Despite claims that protesters harassed returning troops, there are no documented cases of this happening. There are however, plenty of well documented examples of Vietnam Veterans being hassled, rejected, ands even spit on by members of the VFW. That's right. It was the other veterans who routinely disrespected the sacrifice of Vietnam Era soldiers. The popular imagination recast the perpetrators into aggressive hippies. I am not saying there weren't isolated cases of abuse by hippies, but no credible accounts of this survive (contemporary accounts by people actually present).
