The Bunny Picture
It was finally Easter! All the children were excited that the Easter Bunny brought then chocolate, eggs, and fuzzy posters. All of them except for one. Lillian, they called her, was upset because the Easter Bunny forgot to give her her eggs and chocolate. She was an orphan that lived at the Bugira Beach Orphanage in California. Lillian's parents had died when she was seven, so she knew about the Easter Bunny, unlike the other orphans that lived in Bugira Beach Orphanage.
The administration at Bugira Beach strongly disapproved of any holidays. The building was never decorated for any holiday and they were rarely talked about. Lillian, however, loved holidays. She remembered all of the good times that she had had with her parents on Easter, Halloween, and even Christmas.
The door opened and a rather young lovely couple walked into the children's play area. They had come to observe the, as many people tend to do around the holidays, the children and one, possibly two, lucky ones would get to leave that god forsaken place and never return. The children did not know what happened to the ones that got to leave, they just always hoped it would be them next.
The couple saw Lillian by the coloring table and sat down next to her. "What are you drawing?" the man asked..
"A bunny," she replied. Lillian was never shy and loved to talk.
"Is it an Easter Bunny?" the woman asked.
"Yup! See, it has a basket full of eggs and chocolate!" The couple got up and walked around the room looking at the other children, but none of them seemed as special as Lillian. They signed the adoption paper and took Lillian home. She was delighted to find a bright yellow basket of colorful eggs and chocolate waiting for her on her new dining room table!
