hello everyone! I'm still alive, in case you were wondering...
wow I haven't done a journal since the beginning of this month....

School's been pretty crazy stressful >.<
Thursday we decided our classes for the rest of high school! >.<
Aah! I don't know if I really wanna take those classes or not!
I'm really nervous about going into IB Diploma!! It'll be hard! And there'll be oodles and oodles of work!! And I thought this year was bad enough!

....so I guess I'll tell you guys what classes I decided on! ^_^
I had to take 3 higher level (HL) classes, and 3 standard level (SL) classes
HL classes are 2 years long, and SL are only 1 year ^_^
....i didn't exactly choose these classes cause i wanted them...actually, there's a lot LESS freedom in choosing classes when ur in IB than in the regular classes....

Here goes!
Junior Year(11th)
-English HL (required for everyone, absolutely no choice)
-Biology HL (i dunno if i should really take bio! chemistry's been easier....but it has a lot of math in it... xp )
-History SL (last year of history! Woot!)
-Math Methods SL (this class is 2 years confused ....i really wanted to take only 1 more year of math, but some really selective colleges are starting to require 4 yrs of math....)
-French SL (last year of French too! xd and i'll have a better teacher this year!!)
-Art HL ( whee yay! i can take an art class!)
and finally,
-Free Period! ....but I might need to take Health or Economics....since it's required to graduate....

Senior Year (12th, and last!)
only:
English
Math ... stare
Biology
Art 3nodding
...and some required class called TOK (theory of knowledge...)

Woo!.....EekS! This is my life that I'm deciding now!! It's scary! eek

AAAANNDDD, the other most stressful thing in my life recently has been....

HISTORY DAY!! scream

Let's explain first....since a lot of you are lucky people who don't have to do history day....>.<

Basically, you can choose any history topic you want, as long as you can relate it to the theme, which, this year, was Conflict and Compromise

....i thought History Day would be a little more well-known...since it's a national thing....but apparently not.....

You can either:
write a paper (but then you can't have a partner!)
make an exibit (a backboard...like science fair...)
make a documentary ( a movie! oh boy! ....which i found out was a LOT harder to do in one weekend.....not the best for procrastinators....>.< wink
or do a performance!

I think that's it....

Then you go to some college, where they have History Day, and you present your project to judges...
There are prizes and stuff.....money, i think....
and the final round is with people from all over the country

....but i've never actually been to History Day until this year.....but it was quite a disaster...... sweatdrop

Me and my partner, Hannah, waited a loooong time to start....so finally, we ended up having one weekend to do the ENTIRE project....>.< not good.....

We worked most of of Sunday and Monday (that's why I couldn't go skiiing with u Usa-chan and Nya-chan! gomen!)

....but we didn't get enough done.....>.<
so we decided Hannah would finish the documentary (since it was on her computer at her house) and I would do the title page, process paper and annotated bibliography....

i pretty much got all the written stuff, and she got to do the actual project....the documentary....which wasn't even half done....>.<

.....we both ended doing our part the night before....Thursday night......cause our time slot was at 8:15 on Friday....yesterday actually....

I was up till 1:00 am...............but Hannah didn't sleep at all! I feel so terrible that she had to do so much more than me!! crying

It turned out that she actually had to buy some new software to make the documentary cause the one we were using wouldn't tranfer to other computers or something....>.<

Well, Friday night I went to her house......and the computer was dying.....
It wouldn't work! And we couldn't transfer the video to ANYTHING!! It wouldn't even play right!! gonk

Her dad kept trying until we HAD to leave......and he even brought the laptop into the car, and still tried to get it to work, but it didn't! gonk gonk gonk

.....so we went to the room where our judges were.....and told them our sad little story....and apologized......

luckily they turned out to be really really nice....and they all felt sorry for us
we ended up giving them a little speech about what our project was about, and they, well 2 of them (out of 3), seemed really really interested in it ^_^

But that was definetly NOT how I had imagined History Day would be like......
.....my first time at history day.....and it was a huge disaster!
xd it'd be kind of funny actually, if it wasn't my grade at risk...... sweatdrop

after the judges took us to some other people who were in charge....and they all said they were very sorry......but they couldn't do anything about it.....
there weren't any other times we could present......

everyone felt really sorry for us though biggrin lolz

...........it wouldn't have been that bad...........

except I have the really tough history teacher......who doesn't really care about our projects, so our ENTIRE grade on this project is based on the judges scores!!!
eek .....we didn't present........so it's like I have a zero right now!!!!
And it was worth 60 points!!!! He never gives that many points!!! SO this assignment is worth twice as much as an essay, which was the highest amount of points we've ever gotten!!!
*panicking, can u tell?*
AAAHHH!!!! EEEEKKK!! gonk sad

......we decided to just ask if we could present in class......and i think he'd let us.......it's either that...or give me a zero....he wouldn't do that, right??? eek

But just now I got a phone call from Hannah....

It turns out that, since her mom knows one of the judges we had (cause they both work in the library), he offered to get some other judges together so we could present to them, and grade us just like in history day!

We wouldn't actually be in history day, but I'd have a grade from the judges' scores!!
*HUGE sigh of relief*
I think it'll be ok now...... 3nodding
.........but i think my teacher might take off some points because we didn't actually make it to history day......so i guess it'd be like late work.........

And guess what? It turned out that about an hour or so after we got back from History Day, the stupid video worked! scream we were so close!!
......things like that drive me insane.......>.< is it just bad luck or something?

Lolz....well, that was my dramatic, exciting life this last few days!
haha....was it interesting to read??

i was gonna post some random angstyish poems in this journal......but then history day happened.....and this was waaay more exciting...... 3nodding
