Yesterday, I had karate in the evening. I was running a little late at first, but I made it in time by rushing through the whole dressing process. Well, I walk in...and everyone, including my sensei, are in their normal clothes. I just look at them. What was I supposed to do? had I accidentally stumbled upon a universe where people where their normal clothes to karate lessons instead of their uniform? I thought not.
Luckily, someone told me, "Street clothes. She sent us an email." I looked at the students again and it made sense to me. Due to my mother's unfortunate lack of checking her email daily, I had shown up in my uniform to a lesson where street clothes were necessary.
I wasn't the only one. Another student's mother hadn't checked her email that day, either, so we were stuck in our uniforms.
The lesson went smoothly. During warm up, my sensei offered me to take off my uniform jacket, but she said it didn't look like I was wearing a shirt. Rest assured, I definitely was wearing a shirt. I would never go to karate without one. She also offered me to wear one of the studio's shirts, with the logo on it. I politely declined.
After the lesson, I gave my sensei my email address because "Obviously, my mom doesn't check that often." So hopefully the next time she decides to have a street clothes night, I'll know it and be able to attend.
