I pay around $60 per month to the phone company to have our house phone. Been paying that for years now. I decided that I didn't want to pay it anymore. So, I contacted our high-speed Internet provider (we also get our cable tv through them) and they said they can get us upgraded Internet (I thought we were at the fastest level already), keep the tv as it is, and add the phone service (same features we already have - plus unlimited in-state long distance) for an extra $20 per month!
I'm gonna be saving $40 per month on the house phone AND get higher speeds online. woooot!
