Part A - Chapter One
Her eyes opened. Everything was a blur. She lay suspended in a starry liqiud.Her long, auburn hair floated around her."She's awake!" She heard someone yell."Drain it then!" A higher voice responded. In a few moments, the starry liqiud was draining away, and her vision was becoming normal.
"Ah, your finally awake Asoto Maiden," The high voice started ," I'm Carah Lou. Since you are awake, you should have the right to know what we are doing to you. You are a young lady who has been selected for a few..... tests." Carah had hesitated before saying tests, but she went on. " Asoto, the research study that will be performed on you will come soon.Until then, relax and enjoy yourself." Carah walked away, leaving the room empty, except for the glass case that held Asoto.She looked around and say many technical devices, which would no doubt be used on her.
I've got to get out of here! Asoto though to herself.She could not speak, for there was a small breathing device over her mouth. Asoto tried to move, but a few chains held her up.Her hair was now hanging down at the sides of her face.Asoto continued to look around, and at the door she saw a dark, lithe male figure.For once, this person was not dressed in a slate white medical and scientific lab coat.The figure moved towards Asoto's case and lightly said to her, "Asoto, I'm going to get you out of here!"
Asoto knew that voice! It was her closest friend Chance.Asoto tried to knock off the breathing device and call out to him, but it would not work.Asoto heard Chance muttering to himself over the controls.After that, the glass of the case lifted, and the chains holding Asoto fell away.Asoto felt her weight falling to the ground.Chance ran up and caught her in his arms right before she hit the lab floor.Chance slowly and easily removed the breathing device from her mouth.
"Chance!" Asoto muttered, throwing her arms around him."Asoto, we have to get out of here! If they come back, they'll get both of us for testing!" Chance said to her, his voice distressed.Chance helped Asoto to stand, but her legs were so weak she just fell right back down."I see I'll have to carry you." Chance said, lifting Asoto on his back and heading for the lab door.
"Hold it!" Carah yelled, stepping in the lab door."Where do you think you are going young ones. You can't leave without having at least one test done on you!" Chance gasped.Asoto laid there on Chance's back, her fear growing."Damn it woman! Get out of my way!" Chance yelled feircly knocking Carah out of the way and running into the hall."We're almost there Asoto!"Chance said to her, running outside and off teh lab grounds.
