You can catch more of Meriko's attention with plain bread than either honey or vinegar. Browsing through Site Feedback sometimes feels like picking my way through a field of flowers and antipersonnel mines. XD There's some positive feedback, and some negative feedback, and then BOOM! Accusations of laziness, mean-spiritedness, selfishness, greed and all-around evil. Sometimes there's even a bit of personal insult and fictional news flashes about questionable ancestry and sexual predilection to add spice to the post.
I doubt many of the violent ranters and ravers in Site Feedback are this way in real life. I can't imagine them spitting out their free sample bite of cranberry bliss bar onto the floor of their local Starbucks coffee shop and then screaming death threats and vile imprecations to the nearest barista because the bar wasn't really as bliss-packed as they had wanted it to be. Such a person is likely to get an add-shot of spit in their next grande non-fat half-caff triple-pump peppermint mocha. XD
There is a real live person behind this avatar. If you speak (post?) kindly, politely, or at least civilly to me I am more likely to respond with attention than if you were to threaten and abuse, and I imagine the same is true for at least some of the other staff at Gaia.
I would like the Feedback, please. Hold the flames, and put the fluff on the side. Feedback is generally a mix of opinion and fact. Not all opinions and facts, however, are feedback. Forget whether you think the staff are angels or demons, whether you want to have the babies of or beat the pie out of the new item, and all of that fluff and flame. The stuff that I go mining for in the forums is well thought-out feedback and constructive criticism. Give me something I can use.
Feedback that is based on so many inaccuracies and insults that I can hardly consider it valid is not really effective. Would you be more inclined to purchase life insurance from the well-spoken, highly educated agent or from his competitor who claims that you really must sign up today because tomorrow half of Earth's population will be wiped out by a horde of three-headed coyotes harmonizing "The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and the News and brandishing sharp sticks covered with prickly pear cactii? XD In the same vein, I am more inclined to consider feedback that is polite and reasonable, whether it is positive or negative.
Please do not assume (or declare) the worst. If your significant other doesn't show up for a lunch date, do you automatically assume that they are at that very moment engaged in sexual congress with two HIV-positive prostitutes whose services have been purchased with your favorite watch which your significant other must have stolen the other day? ^^; If the staff does something which does not add to your happiness, please don't assume the worst about our motives and then immediately post it in the most vituperative language you can come up with.
There is a regular old person behind this avatar, not an embodiment of evil whose sole delight in this shadowed existence is to find new ways to piss you off. *hee*
Signing off for now to go and prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday with my family. I hope everyone in the States has a safe and happy Thanksgiving! ^^
