Hello! Today I joined my school's Poetry Club. We made a word pallet about what people judge you on. The word pallet was titled "Acceptance". We were supposed to write poems about what we would say to a person that had judged us in the past. It was a great way to get out emotions and the other poeple there and I might become close. Like friends but actually different in a way. Here is the poem I wrote.
I want you to know about me, Daddy.
You think you know me but
I'm not the little child you think of.
I'm 13.
So what? you say,
I can make my own decisions,
You tell mom and Chris* that
I don't know what I want.
You tell me I love you.
Now I don't believe you,
You've lied and manipulated me.
Now I stand before you,
here to say:
I'm my own person.
If you want to help me,
then get outta my way!
I love him more than you,
Don't even try to ask ...who?
You don't really talk to me
He explains everything.
I'm Calliope,
I'm a girl who's shy yet not,
I like to read and draw.
Say you already know this
but don't you see?
You don't know me.
Chris does, you don't
Now I stand here saying:
You don't understand.
*=Chris is my stepfather
