These masks

You see a face something real.
I see a mask hiding it all.
For i too wear a mask that hides.
A mask so i never get hurt.
A mask that you will never crack.
You see a happy person.
I see the sad one inside.
So afraid to let anyone in.
Hurt so many times by others.
Hurt by words and by fists.
A empty look always appears.
Whenever they believe no one is watching.
They begin to drift away.
hiding behind words and books.
hiding the truth with cunning lies.
Keeping the secrets inside.
Telling no one much.
Most people who wear the mask.
Are those who believe they are nothing.
believe life is painful.
life is unfair.
and life is cruel.
That is just about everyone.
but only a few people show what they really feel.
While the rest of us are fine with staying in the dark.
Repeatedly dyeing inside as we move on.
And no one really knows why it is.
Because for such a very long time.
No one has truly admitted to wearing a mask.
For they believe that wearing that mask proves your weak.
That they could never face on the world.
That they are nothing but insects in this life.
Most people believe this is true.
And sometime so do i.
For wearing that painted face.
by putting on lie after lie.
we’re just hiding, and fearing our lives
and never really standing up and shouting this is will never get to me.
Instead we sit in a lonely prison that we have built.
No one will ever see beyond the mask i wear.
Only if they do see the pain and sorrow that lies in my eyes
Will i stop pretending and hiding behind this mask.
Till then this mask will stay on
And i will move on with a fake smile on my face.
Till then i’ll make sure no one will see me cry in hopelessness.
Till then and until everyone finally admits it.
Admits to hiding their beautiful faces under an ugly mask.
Untill then i will hide behind this foolish mask.
