Killisar's Story
Killisar sighed as he looked around. It was dark, and he loved it. He could see everything that was happening around him. He kept his eyes on the walls and doors, making sure nothing was in front of him. He turned around, scanning behind him too. Suddenly, he spun around, swords in hands, and heard the CLACK as it hit another sword. He immediately spun in a twirl and swung his other sword to the person's back. Another CLACK, as he expected.
He brought his other sword under toward the feet and saw the person jump up and bring his sword toward Killisar's head.
Killisar let it hit his helmet, hearing a GONG and getting a slight head ache as the annoying vibrations and sound hit his sensitive ears.
He brought his sword up toward the man's neck, but the man brought up his own sword and blocked it. Killisar swung his leg, hitting the man's legs, but not knocking him down.
Killisar growled in frustration as he slammed his elbow toward the man's gut. The man immediately used his swords to block the elbow and then dug his sword over into Killisar's gut.
The dim lights turned on and Killisar looked down at the wooden sword that was against his stomach. He sighed and looked at his father.
"I can never beat you." He said with a little bit of laughter. Zaknefein smiled and pulled his sword away. He threw it to the servant.
"You'll get there. You are still a youngling. You are only 19. You haven't even gotten into your thirties." He said. Killisar nodded finally and threw his own wooden swords to the servant's awaiting hands.
"Yeah, I guess." He sighed, not convinced.
Zak smiled at his son and walked with him out of the training room.
"Zaknefein, Matron Malice has summoned you." A servant said as he ran up to Zak. Zak looked at Killisar with a 'Uh oh' look and followed the servant toward the throne room. Killisar looked around the long hallway and sighed.
He hadn't even walked a minute before Dinin walked out of his room.
"He beat ya again?" He asked mockingly. Killisar rolled his eyes.
"You're just jealous because he only trains me." Kilisar countered. Dinin snickered.
"I wouldn't want to be trained by him. He's an idiot." Dinin said. Killisar glared at him.
"And you're just jealous because he's not your father." Killisar added. Dinin laughed and walked away.
Killisar sighed and opened the door to his room. He took off his armor and put it against the wall. His room was empty, like most male rooms, except for the husband's. Zaknefein's bedroom was full of golden statues of the Spider Queen, the drow god. Killisar personally didn't believe in it, and neither did Zaknefein. They knew it existed, for they had seen her many times when Matron Malice had summoned it. But They didn't like it, and the fact that the drow worshipped it didn't help their faith in it at all.
Killisar and Zak were not like most drow, evil and cold hearted. Though they never showed it, because the penalty was death, they were merciful and caring. Killisar had saved many people on drow raids by hiding them, but Zaknefein was never so lucky. He did as he was told, knowing it was too late for him to escape from the evil race or to save anyone since he was watched twenty-four/seven.
Killisar always dreamt of escaping into the tunnels outside of the city, hiding and escaping from his family. He hated his family, except for his father. His father was his only friend, and that was rare in the drow race. Drow didn't have friends, they didn't want them. They didn't care for them. They were decietful, always looking for a way to grow higher in power. Killisar hated that.
He changed into his regular clothes and walked out of his room. He looked around again for anyone that might want him or see him, then walked down the hallway toward the front gates. He might be able to get out for a quick search of the Underdark and get back before being noticed.
He was at the gates when he saw them closed and the guards standing in front of it. He sighed and turned around, immediately seeing his sister Bierna.
"What are you doing?" She asked immediately.
"Um-uh-I-I was j-just walking. Why?" He asked, bowing his head in respect. She searched him with her caniving puprle eyes, then raised her eyebrows.
"You were just walking with your sword?" She asked, her hand drifting to her own sword.
"You never know when enemies will reveal themselves out in the darkness." He covered. She looked at him for a long moment, then shook her head, ignoring the situation.
"Matron Malice has summoned you. Who knows why she sent me to get you?" She muttered bitterly. He nodded quickly and hurried by her to go to the throne room. He was scared of his sisters for one reason. They beat him. They had beaten him ever since he was a child. If he even thought something wrong, they would whip him or cut him until he passed out. He knew that being the youngest brought more upon him, for Dinin was the second oldest and was not beat as much as he.
He didn't like anyone in this race except for his father. Everyone he had ever met were hideous on both inside and out, and it made him furious. He stood in front of the giant doors of the throne room and slowly began to knock. He stopped and listened for his mother to say he could come in.
"Come in, Killisar." came the voice he feared most of all.
He opened the doors and walked in. He immediately went to one knee once he was beside his father.
"You wished to see me?" He asked, wondering if she knew about his visits to the Underdark.
"I did not wish it, I have been dreading seeing you again since your last visit." She stated angrily. Killisar's breath caught. She was angry at him, maybe she did know.
"I'm sorry Matron." He said carefully. He felt his father's eyes on him as Matron summoned him up to her side. Zak sat down on the smaller chair beside her.
"You have been in the Underdark, Killisar." She said finally. Killisar stopped breathing. He waited for pain, but got none. He remained silent. "Why?!" She asked furiously.
Killisar was quiet for a moment, thinking of something to say. "I-I just heard of a threat that lied outside of the city in the tunnels nearby and wanted to destroy it before it did any damage to the Do'Urden household." He lied quickly. She glared at him.
"What is this threat?" She asked, holding back her fury.
"An animal, Matron Malice. A new animal that the sfirvneblin have unleashed nearby." He said, thinking about the gigantic animal he had faced last time in the tunnels. He had not known what it was, never have seen it before. "It is powerful, so I was just killing it before it did any harm to the Do'Urden household." He said again.
He felt her eyes search him, looking for any signs of tension.
"And did you find such an animal?" She asked finally.
"Yes, Matron Malice."
"And did you kill it?"
"Yes, Matron Malice."
"Are there any more of them?"
"I don't believe so, but I cannot be certain."
"Then I will send Dinin out into the tunnels with his elite and destroy the beasts. You will stay here." She said. Killisar cursed mentally.
"Yes, Matron Malice." He said. "Is there anything else?" He asked, immediately regretting it.
"Where have you to go, Killisar?! Why do you wish to leave so quickly?!"
He froze. "I-I didn't mean it like that, Matron Malice." He said quickly. "I was just wondering-"
"You are purely an idiot, young drow. Maybe Zak needs to stop teaching you how to fight and actually teach you something about how to treat your superiors." She said as she looked at her husband. Zak lowered his head, as to not look into her eyes.
"Yes, Matron Malice." Killisar said softly.
Malice sighed and waved her hand.
"Get out of here." She ordered.
He nodded then got up and walked out, his fists clenched angrily as he walked.
He opened the doors and closed them, then sighed in frustration and walked away.
39 years later
Killisar laughed as he twirled, sending the swords that were against his up and away from his. He had been fighting his father for about thirty minutes straight now. He saw the opening and took it. He slammed his wooden sword against Zak's back. Killisar laughed in triumph as his father didn't move.
"Did I win?" He asked. Zak looked at the sword, then smiled.
"Indeed you did." He said.
Killisar laughed happily and took away his sword, throwing it to the servant.
"It only took you forty years to do it." Dinin said from the door.
"Well at least he did it." Zaknefein said to Dinin firmly. Dinin rolled his eyes and walked away. Killisar was still smiling.
"That was good. I have never lasted that long against you." He said, panting. Zak smiled and patted his son on the back.
"You did well. Now come. Let's go celebrate." He said as he turned and walked out of the room. Killisar smiled, then followed.
Killisar laughed as Zak finished his joke against Malice. He had never loved the woman, or even liked her. He was forced to marry that old hag, who just happened to be the fairest drow in Do'Urden.
"Man, I'm just glad she doesn't watch you like she does me. It's like she despises me for some reason." killisar said with a smile.
Killisar looked around, making sure no one was there. "Dad, let's go. Let's get out of here." He whispered as he leaned against the small table.
Zak sighed and looked down at the wooden table.
"I can't." He said sadly. "I would love to just get up and get out, but I can't. It's impossible for me. They watched me all the time. The only reason they aren't now is because I'm supposed to be training you."
"Exactly. Let's go now. Come on. I don't want to stay here as much as you. And I don't want to go alone." He continued in a low voice. Zak sighed again.
"If I left, we'd be caught in less than a minute."
"Then we'll fight out way out. I just beat you, which means we're the best fighters in the Do'Urden family." Killisar reasoned.
"Killisar, I can't. It's too late for me. You go before she does anything else to you." He said quiety, still not looking at Killisar.
Killisar froze. "What did she do to you?" He asked in a whisper.
Zak didn't say anything for a long moment.
"She bugged me." He said finally. Killisar froze. Malice was listening. Fear crowded his mind.
"She's listening?" He asked in a regular voice. Zak slowly nodded.
Killisar cursed quietly and looked down the hallway. He saw guards coming towards them.
"Get out of here." Zak said as he looked at the table. "I'm staying." He said a she stood up. He threw a coin to the bar tender and looked at the on coming guards. "I'll hold 'em off until you're free."
"I can't leave you." Killisar said.
"You can, Killisar! And you will!" He snapped angrily. Killisar stared at the guards and began to shake. He couldn't leave his father! Malice would kill him! "Killisar, I don't care about what she'll do to me. I don't want you hurt. Now get out of here already!" He yelled, sensing the turmoil inside of his son. He suddenly slipped something into his son's hand.
Killisar slowly nodded, then ran off the other way, not knowing why he was going.
He heard swords clashing and people trying to chase him but only being cut down. He bit back a curse and ran faster.
Killisar suddenly felt a sword against the back of his neck, and one against the front. He knew it was Dinin. He clenched his fists.
"Where do you think you're going?" Dinin asked. Killisar cursed angrily as he turned his head and looked at Dinin.
"Are you going to stop me?" He asked.
"I already have." Dinin smirked.
Killisar immediately had his swords out and pushing against Dinin's two. He made them far apart enough to get out and kicked Dinin away and into the wall.
Dinin growled and ran at Killisar furiously.
Killisar took the force and while Dinin pushed against him, Killisar slammed his elbow down into Dinin's neck, sending him to the ground. Dinin immediately did a hand stand and kicked Killisar under the chin. Killisar stumbled back, but retrieved his swords and had them against Dinin's neck in less than five seconds. Dinin froze.
"Leave me alone." Killisar growled, then suddenly ran off before Dinin could reply or even chase him.
A minute later, Killisar was being shoved back into the hallway where Dinin stood. Dinin smirked as Killisar was held forward and stopped in front of Dinin.
"It seems you lead me into a trap." Killisar muttered. Dinin smirked again and suddenly slammed his fist into Killsar's gut. Killisar jerked forward but was held up by the man behind him.
"Take him to the throne room." Dinin ordered.
Killisar struggled against them but was pushed toward the directed room.
Dinin walked by them and was in the throne room ten minutes before they got there.
Killisar was shoved into the throne room, his hands tied in front of him. His eyes immediately fell to his father's body on the ground in front of Malice. His breath caught as he stared at it. His hands were pinned to the ground with poisoned knives and a sword wound was in his chest, over his heart. He shook slightly as he stared at it.
His gaze shifted slowly to the sword in his mother's hands. It was Dinin's. Killisar felt fury rise in his heart. He felt the pouch against his waist that had the item his father had given him. He hadn't seen it yet. His breath became cold and difficult.
"Why did you kill him?" He asked softly. His mother glared at him, and Dinin's gaze was on him also.
"Why? Because he betrayed me." Malice said finally. Killisar jerked his eyes up to glare at her.
"He didn't leave! He didn't-"
"He tried to help you to!" Malice interrupted furiously. "Show your respect and you might live!"
Killisar was silent, his throat dry and no words coming to his mouth. He stared at his father's dead body.
"Malice-"
"HOW DARE YOU ADDRESS ME BY MY NAME!!!!" She yelled in fury.
"I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR STUPID LAWS!!!!!! I CANNOT SHOW TO RESPECT WHEN I HAVE NONE FOR THEM!!!!" Killisar snapped back with just as much fury. Malice glowed with hatred for her son. Why couldn't she have had a daughter? She asked herself.
Kilisar took a deep breath.
He pulled out a dagger that was hidden and cut through the ropes. In less than a second, the dagger was flying at him mother with great speed.
His mother stopped it with a quick spell, then grabbed it and threw it aside.
"Insolent fool. I'll kill you now." She said angrily.
"Go ahead. If you can." Killisar answered. She clenched her fists and signalled Dinin to attack.
Dinin moved reluctantly toward his younger brother that had beaten him so easily less than twenty minutes ago.
Killisar watched him come.
"I don't want to fight Dinin, 'Matron'. I'll fight you, and you alone." Killisar growled. Dinin seemed somewhat relieved, being not even two hundred and not wanting to die just yet. He hadn't quite grown up completely yet.
"I will not lower myself to fight a traitor son." She answered.
Killisar smiled.
"Then I'll be going." He said, pained to say it that he was leaving Malice. But to tell the truth, he was still terrified of her. And didn't want to fight her, being yet not strong enough. He would kill her though. She would die.
"You'll be going all right. Straight to hell!" She screamed.
He stared at her a moment, then suddenly saw a massive spider rushing at him. He immediately spun and threw open the doors. He raced down the hall, the spider close behind him.
He ran and slid out of the door that was closing. He sprang to his feet and killed the two guards standing in front of the guard. He pushed open the doors and ran through the Menzoberranzan streets towards the tunnels.

I LIKE IT! =D
How very emotional. But, wait! (I've found a flaw!)
Why was Zak so against the culture he was raised in? He was taught these things all his life...
Maybe he saw a different, more nicer life? Wished he could live like that? But why did he only teach it to Kill? Maybe it was because he was the youngest, and most mistreated? Did he pity him? (Pity love is horrible. Dx)
Other than that, I like it. x3
