Well the weeks flew by and it seemed like we were finally starting to get a name for ourselves. More people came to see us and i had started writing some lyrics on the road for future songs. For some reason this concept kept in my head of the perfect tragedy, a song devoted to a horrid ending for a person. Well all i could come to was a husband and wife madly in love, they had just gotten hitched and the husband going off to war, he was in the army. Within the first week he was there he was hit by a make-shift landmine, shrapnel had pierced his throat like a it was some goth getting her tongue pierced at a parlor. The next day his wife got a phone call, it fell to the floor, her jaw was open. And to think, he might have stayed had he known. That is, if he had known she was pregnant. I shared the idea with the band and they came up with a killer sound for it, suited the tone of the lyrics perfectly. I think the fact that they never questioned that song scares me the most. We all truely were messed up in the head.
After practicing the song a few times unplugged on the tour bus i decided to try it out on the crowd that night. We all got dressed and i hadn't anounced to my other bandmates my decision, maybe a little poor but the 4th song in i decided to announce to the crowd and to Ken, T, and Roly. Roly was our drummer, kind of a hot-head but he can play the drums like no one else. He was an orfen and grew up alone cause no one would take him. he was wild as a kid and maybe worse as a young adult.
At the end of the 3rd song with the vibrating bass hitting us all from the last chord, i let it ring for a few then silenced it, grabbed the mic.
"This next one, is something i've been working on for a bit, the bands been hard at work to make it happen, and i think it's ready for The Perfect Tragedy!" as i said it i looked vover to Ken and then over at T, they both looked back the same way with an "About time!" kind of face. We missed nothing on it. Everything went "perfect" and that includes the crowds reaction. That night we went out to a drink to our success with our new song. I wasn't much expecting to see so many others from the concert there, they came up to us commented on that bit.
"It totally rocked, you guys are ******** awesome. are you gonna come back?" one said.
"Oh, absolutely. We'l try out another new song there when we get the chance," I said back in a raspy voice with a rather cocky grin on my face.
We finished up there with a few autographs here and the, pictures and of course what's a band with out a crazed fan that hugs them unexpectedly. There was a fair share of beautiful girls that came up to us. Always a nice advantage bands have, is the goregous women you meet along the way.
Yet this night was far from over, for time was slowed and something caught my eye, or rather, someone. She had a sweet smile, it brighted this dusty bar. Her hair glistened and flowed like calm waves in a pond. She was off in the corner and i was still stuck in the middle. Fans can be a pain like that sometimes, but still i love them. After all, without fans, what would we do? Ken ordered another round for us and someone who had nestled against him and, apparently, grown attached to his arm. We toasted once more and the eye-catcher stood up, sh grabbed her things and headed out. I finished my beer and decided to call it a night.
I walked out and looked around, but still, could not find her. I wonder where she went to during that time, also, i wonder if she saw our show. She couldn't have could she? She would have known who we were if she had been. This weighed on my mind for a few days and was forgotten while i started thinking of what to write next. Maybe something more uplifting. Something like a giant bahemoth that raveges the country side and raped women, and maybe a few men. Nah, that comes later, much later.
