‘The lighter you hair is, the closer to nothing you are.’ That’s what there always saying. It’s so unfair!
I lifted up the brush off my dresser and started to brush my hair.
And that Adlebert, My mother is the rightful heir to the Kinkami! Not that b*****d!
“Dammit, why wasn’t I born with darker hair?! Then I could even use those Demon powers. Humph. I don’t need to be a kurokami anyway. We’ll over throw them someday. Just wait and see! All I need to do is steal some esoteric stones, and rally some other Kinkami, or Akakami, and destroy them!” I slammed my fist on the table, knocking a few things off.
::CRASH!::
“Oh, no! My mirror! It took Mother 2 months to find me one!” and even then it still had a few cracks in it.
I dropped my brush, and I kicked some of the shards off my feet. “Damn, it’s all over the place.” I winced as I finally noticed the pain. “tch” I don’t have time for this today! Agggh!
Blood was running down from my foot to the floor. From my hands to my arms, to my night gown. “Take a deep breath Wolfram.” I took a deep breath, to keep from freaking out. I was going to take over some of the protests against the new Maou today! “DAMMIT!”
“Wolf?” A weak voice muttered. “I heard a crash, and you yelled, are you alright honey?” It was mother, just waking-up. Just waking-up? Ou, no I meant for her to sleep in today!
“No, mother. I’m fine, I just.” I sighed. “I broke the mirror you gave me for my birthday. I’m sorry.”
“mmm? Oh… don’t worry about it Wolf.” I could tell she was lying. She sounded sad. “I just. Can I come in, honey?” She had more than a hint of worry in her voice. I don’t want to make her worry more. Not about me.
“I’m fine mother! I... um. I’ll clean it up later, I’m late.” I carefully got away from the glass, and put on bandages. It stung, with the glass still in it, but I don’t want mother to see. I then put on my clothes, which stung more. “Come in mother!” I said as I lifted the wooden barricade, which acted as a lock.
“Wolf?” She said as she stepped into the room. “oh!” She looked like she was about to cry when she saw the mirror. I winced inwardly. I know she worked hard to get me such rare things like that. I started to fiddle with an old necklace. “well… I knew it would brake sometime. With you being such an energetic boy, after all. I’ll try to get you another one, honey.” She sighed.
“No! Mother! I wouldn’t even dream asking something like that from you again!” I meant it so much, I almost shouted.
She looked like she was in shock. Did I say it too loudly? “Wolf? Why is there blood on the floor? You did get hurt, didn’t you!?”
I stopped fiddling with my necklace. I forgot to clean-up the blood. “N-no.” I tried to think-up a good lie. “I- that’s… been there forever! I---“
“Wolfram! Your lying! This blood is fresh, and on some of the shards. Why are you lying to your mother?” She looked angry, worried… and hurt.
“Mother… I…” I couldn’t say any more. I could only hang my head in shame. “I’m going, and please don’t worry about me, mother! I… I’m going out to buy you a present for your birthday!” even though I already bought it, and wrapped it under my bed, it was the only thing I could think of.
