You never really know what they mean by a "crossroads" in your life until you reach one. When you do, it's like an epiphany. "Oh." Suddenly, everything you knew is useless and you're left wondering "What do I do now?" It's like that fork in the road you're always hearing about, except that neither way is predictable in the long run. You could take the long, safe way. The way you know you'll be happy in for years to come, only to degenerate into a boring routine that leaves you miserable in the end. Or, you could take the long, scary way. The way that seems appealing /rightnow/ because it has a lot of distractions and sidetracks (i.e. kid in candyland syndrome), but could leave you empty and alone in the end. Sure, either way could take you to a wealth of happiness, but you dont know which and you're left standing at the fork for a very long time.

What would you risk to find out which road to take? Would you risk hurting loved ones? How will you be guaranteed that that leaving those loved ones will lead you to where you want to go? What if, after all is said and done, you realize that leaving them behind is all a big mistake and it's just too late? You don't know what's going to happen. Not until the moment arrives that you reach the end of the road. Life is the hardest teacher. It gives the test, and then it gives the lesson.
