Plot & Setting
Scientists have found a way to genetically alter the domestic house pet with human DNA. Dogs, Cats, Bunnies etc. giving them the intelligence of man, and the ability to tell right from wrong while retaining their unwavering loyaty to humans and the Master/Pet status quo. Scientists have nick named them simply "NEKO."

The NEKOs are bred in the Government facility only known as "The Farm" where they are vaccinated, tagged with satellite tracking chips and sterilized, making them unable to breed outside of "The Farm."
Only then is a NEKO shipped out to the new generation of pet shops all over the world. Understandably, a NEKO does not come cheep but once licenced, that NEKO is owned for life, which is estimated to be anywhere from 35 to 40 years.

NEKOs are prized so highly not merely for their loyaty but for their potential services in the home. NEKOs were genetically created with human DNA to make them adaptable to the domestic needs of humans, being able to work simple jobs anywhere from a maid to an in-home babysitter and even home security.

For those who have the money and a taste for the exotic, there was a special breed of NEKO engineered with the genetic code from Tigers, Bears, Wolves and other wildlife. But owners of these rare NEKO must first have a Handler's Licence due to their fierce animal instinct, making them more aggressive then that of their domesticated cousins.

But "The Farm" is not without it's share of problems. Like everything in life there has always been those who would abuse it and those who would put a stop to it. New branches of Animal Rights have popped up since the creation of and selling of NEKOs, Anti-NEKO groups slandering "The Farm" calling it immoral and slavery.
Where the world's Underground have found a new profit, once removing the Government issued satellite tags NEKO are used for every illegal market from "Dog" Fighting to cheep slave labour. If ever there was a stray NEKO found, it would have to have escaped from the Underground rings.
