In the land of endless sands
i kneel down
Nothing, but fine granules surround
Time does not reach this purified dimension
The seemingly frozen sky fades to a tie-dye illusion
As the forever harvest moon appears high,
An Aurora Borealis like phenomenon wraps itself around
As if a ribbon of colors embraced the glowing orb round
But my eyes gaze not at the pastel above
They look toward the scene before me
A crevice opens in the grained surface
And a group of three shadows climb out
A mother fox and her two baby kits
In the strange multi-colored moonlight
They look almost unreal, mere figments of my imagination
the two kits, one black, one white
play together as the mother, pale furred, nudges me with her small snout
I pet her as she lays beside me, and we watch the two scamper about
Then they stop and stare up at the sky in pure fascination
I never forget these times
In a place without crime
Just beauty and peace
All the stress I feel is always released
Farewell, my dear little ones
It's time for me to leave
To the place, in stead of sand, filled with stones
I embrace all three before standing and walking away
Maybe I'll see them again someday.
