"God, I had an orgasm just touching the man," Erie beams. I really don't see what's so appealing about him. But I won't ask her. She'll think me insane.
"What's so appealing about him anyway?" Okay, so I do ask. Sue me.
"I don't know, really. There's just something about him."
I shrug. As she changes the TV channel to Fuse, I swivel in my chair, turning back to the computer screen, continuing to listen to Mindless Self Indulgence. James Euringer. More commonly known as Jimmy Urine, his high falsetto booms in my headphones. He has talent, definitely. But attractive? No. He's pretty repulsive to me.
I explore their Myspace page and see that they'll be in Houston soon. Hot or not, I really want to see MSI. And I've got about $70.00 saved up for whatever I want.
"Hey, Erie, you want to see MSI again?"
"Of course! But I'm saving myself for Warped Tour."
"Oh. Alright."
It's just as well. I don't need another Jimmy fan-girl screaming her head off. Though, I'd trade any one of them for Erie any day.
I bookmark the page and sign off. Erie and I continue to watch Fuse, and she leaves after we eat a cheese pizza and hang out for a few more hours.
I tell my parents about my plan, and they say they're going to pay for my ticket! I guess since my 21st birthday is coming up and I'll be in my new place soon, they want to do what they can.
As the concert date draws nearer and nearer, I hype myself up by listening to MSI nonstop. Nope, he doesn't do a thing for me. I always wonder if it would be more exciting if I did have a bit of a crush on him. It's highly doubtful. I'm flying high enough already.
I pick out my outfit. Three days to go. I'm so excited! I do wish Erie was going...I don't much like going places alone, especially concerts. Not that anything's happened to me before, but I like to take precautions.
It's the day of the show. I drive to the arena, parking a few blocks away. The line to get in is turning out to be pretty fun. I'm flirting like mad, even getting a few phone numbers (score!). I get in and find my seat, sit, and wait.
It isn't much longer until I hear that familiar voice. And there they are: Kitty, Steve, Lyn-Z, and last but surely not least, Little Jimmy Urine himself. The crowd is going insane, myself included, as they perform some of my all-time favorites. I belt out the lyrics to Bitches, Shut Me Up, Never Wanted to Dance, Cocaine and Toupees, and more.
I keep praying the night won't end, but it unfortunately must. I decide to use my aloneness to my advantage. When I'm with a friend at a concert, they never want to stick around to try to meet the band. Since I'm here by myself, I can stay as late as I want.
I circle the venue, going around and around, hoping to see at least a group of people to give me an idea of where MSI is. I park on the emptying street and walk around. I see some other die-hard fans doing, I assume, the same as me. But as the number of people begins dwindling, I become more and more discouraged. I begin the slow, disappointed walk back to my car.
"Hey honey, isn't it a bit late to still be here?"
I turn to give this stranger a piece of my mind and my jaw drops wide open. I close it quickly so as not to look like a total jackass, and the not-so-stranger advanced toward me. I make sure to keep my cool, smile as suavely as possible, and say, "Lyn-Z! Hi! I wasn't expecting to find you."
"Have you been looking for us all this time?"
"Yeah."
"Wow, you must be exhausted of all that walking."
"Oh, that's an understatement," I chuckle. "Then I have a bit of a drive ahead of me. Well, it was amazing meeting-"
"Sweetie, you're not going anywhere. Look, why don't you come with me? I'll take you to the rest of the band."
"I knew I loved you for some reason. You're so awesome!"
She softly smiles and thanks me. "Come on," she whispers as she grabs my hand.
We approach the bus and as we enter, I hide behind Lyn-Z out of intimidation. Steve peers behind her and observes, "Looks like Lyn-Z grew a tail."
"Who's your friend?" Kitty chimes in.
"This is Lacey. She's been here all night trying to find us. She was about to give up when I found her."
Steve and Kitty welcome me, and we all get to know each other. I notice that Jimmy's not saying anything. In fact, he hasn't said a word to me. Oh well, I guess you can't please them all.
They're nice enough to share their stash of cocaine, and I down a couple of beers as well. Not too much, though. I would kind of like to remember this night clearly. I glance over at Lyn-Z, who's looking at Jimmy. She whispers something in Kitty's ear, and they get up to leave, motioning for Steve to follow. I look at him for an explanation, and he mumbles something about business to take care of. Humph. Musicians.
I look at Jimmy, who isn't even facing my direction. I don't know what the hell his problem is, but he's really pissing me off. But this moment will not be wasted; if he won't talk, I will. "You're awfully quiet, Mr. Euringer."
He smirks. "Yeah. It is possible, you know."
"You could've at least said hi to me."
"Could've." Smirk. "Didn't."
"You're such an a*****e! I don't know what the ******** my friend sees in you! Look, I have to go. I'm going to say bye to everyone."
I don't really need to go. I just want to get away from him. Before I go to the back of the bus, he grabs my arm and says, "Hold up. Come here." He takes me, sits me down, and asks my name.
"Lacey."
"Lacey," he repeats. "Well, tell me something about you."
I tell him a few things, and even ring up Erie. He talks to her for a few minutes, and when he hangs up I inform him, "She said she had an orgasm just by touching you."
"I always knew I was magic. But what about you?"
"No. I'm immune."
"Well, we'll have to fix that."
Before I can question him, his tongue is in my mouth. Not exactly what I had planned, but I don't find myself stopping him. I start shaking as he moves to pull down my lime green fishnet stockings. He comes inside me, and I start tensing up. It's not my first time, but I'm scared at any rate. And he's really sweet about everything. He kisses my lips, my neck...tender kisses that make me go crazy. He asks if I'm okay. I nod, biting my lip, and we continue in our steady rhythmic motion.
We come almost at the same time, and as I desperately clutch onto the sheets beneath me, I feel him shudder inside me. He falls on me in a tired and breathless heap, and after he pulls out he continues to kiss my still heaving chest. He moves away, smiles, and asks, "So how did your immunity hold up?"
Still panting, I assure him, "You're magic, Mr. Euringer."
We share another long kiss and quickly get dressed. I decide to take my leave, and he holds my hand as we exit the bus.
"I don't want you to forget me," I plead.
"I won't. Tell you what...give me your number. I'll call you."
I think he can see the doubt in my heart.
"I will," he assures. "And I'll fly you out for the last show."
"I'd like that." Something tells me not to get my hopes up. I kiss him once more, and we part ways.
I know I'll never see him again. He won't call. He'll forget my face in about a month or two.
He, to my surprise, calls like he promised, and continues to almost every night for the rest of the week. We have long conversations, and I can tell I'm falling for him. Three weeks ago, I would have gagged at the thought of him. And now, here I am, falling in love with Jimmy Urine.
After that, the calls come less and less, until they stop completely. Their tour will be over soon. I knew it would happen. Tears form in my eyes as I realize he forgot about me like I feared. Like he promised he wouldn't.
I cry myself to sleep; silent tears, powerful and energy draining. The next evening, I'm awaken by my phone. "Hello," I drowsily answer.
"Lacey? It's Jimmy!"
"Oh. So you were able to pencil me in I see."
"I'm sorry. I've just been busy and-"
"Yeah, busy...I know what that means."
"Lacey..."
"So, who's going home with you tonight?" I ask. Rock stars are all the same.
"No one! s**t! I haven't slept with anyone since you."
I roll my eyes, not believing a word. "And I bet out of all the girls you've ********, I'm the special one you fell in love with. Right?"
"Yes!"
"Whatever. Keep selling, I'm not buying."
"Lacey, goddamn it, will you listen to me? I'm dead ******** serious, I love you. And I told you I'd get you here for the last show, and I intend to follow through on that."
Without thinking, I reply, "I'm so sorry, Jimmy! I just got scared because you're constantly on the road and I hadn't heard from you in so long and I didn't know if...if..."
"Don't worry anymore. There's no one but you, baby."
I smile and feel completely relieved. "Was I a total paranoid b***h?"
"Yeah," he laughs," but I love you, paranoid b***h. Now get packing, slave! I'm booking your flight soon."
"Where am I going?"
"Does it matter? Grab a suitcase and put some clothes in that b***h! And bring a whip. I'm ready to have my way with you."
"Yes, master."
I pack a few outfits, and I'm on my way to Florida. I get off the plane and see Jimmy from a mile away. I run to him and he greets me with open arms.
"I missed you, master," I say to him.
"I missed you, slave," he jokingly replies.
I kiss him deeply and walk to that fateful tour bus, hand in hand with the one man I never thought I'd fall head over heels for.
