A snowmobile plowed through the snowy, blizzardy air, with waves of snow trailing behind it. The driver of the snowmobile looked around with wonder, while the person in the passenger seat sat there coldly. “Ronni, can we go back to the cabin now? It’s freezing!” But Ronni wasn’t paying attention; the mark upon her forehead was burning. “Something…is calling me...from over there,” She said as she pointed to a mountain in the north-east. “Ronni,” Mary-Beth said, “We’re in the middle of the North Pole, no one is out here, except you and me, nothing can be calling you from a mountain...IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NORTH POLE!!!!!!” “No, it’s my mark, it burns,” “Well, THAT makes a difference! Is some ‘spirit’ calling you from under the mountain?!” “That’s no mountain!” Ronni said as she turned the snowmobile sharply and accelerated toward this “Mountain”. They sped on faster and faster, “RONNI!!!! YOU’RE GONNA KILL US!!!” Ronni pushed on the breaks and fortunately stopped two feet in front of the ‘Mountain’. The two girls jumped out of the snowmobile. “What is this, then, if it’s not a mountain?” said Mary Beth “It’s a castle!” “A castle…in the middle of nowhere?” “Yup,” Ronni pulled out two chisels and hammers from the back of the snow- mobile “and there’s something out here,” she handed Mary-Beth a chisel and hammer. “What are these for? Ronni? Hey, wait up!” said Mary-Beth as she ran after Ronni who was walking around one of the walls of the castle, “Hmm, how are we going to get in…Ugh!” Ronni laid a hand on the wall “Ronni! What’s the matter?” cried Mary-Beth, Ronni’s hand started to glow “My…mark…ugh!” she took it off the wall. In curiosity, Mary-Beth took out her water bottle, and sprayed the wall with water. And with that, she scraped off the snow, “RICE-A-RONNI!!!!!!!!!!!” “What is it Bethy-Boo?” “Th-th-there’s a-a-a…” “There’s a what?” Beth whimpered and pointed to the wall. Within the wall of ice, was a face. ‘Is that the thing that’s calling me?’ Ronni thought, ‘It can’t have…He’s in solid ice!’ Ronni pondered, decided and started to chisel, “Ronni! What are you doing?!” Mary-Beth said frantically. “This is what’s calling me, Beth, he’s calling me.” “Girl, you know what happens when you dig up dead people?” Ronni shrugged, “They become undead, and they try to suck your brains out of your ears or somethin’ like that!!!” Ronni rolled her eyes, “Beth, Beth, Beth! You watch too many horror films. Besides, he’s not dead…” “WHAT?!?! YOU’RE A TOTAL MESSED UP WHACKO!!! WHEN YOU’RE FROZEN IN ICE FOR WHATEVER NUMBER OF YEARS, YOU’RE DEAD, AND YOU KNOW WHAT!?!? HE’S DEAD!!!! DEAD, DEAD, DEAD, DEAD, DEAD!!!!!!” “Oh just shut up and carve him out will ya?” “Ok, if you wanna have your brains sucked out of your head, that’s fine with me!” After some time, they finally had the body off the wall and in the snowmobile. Then, the two girls drove back with their find to their little cabin in Kaedilyn and carried it inside. “Careful, Beth!” said Ronni as they were getting the frozen body through the door. “Ronni, its solid ice, not glass!” said Beth. They crossed the room and set the body by the fireplace. Then, Ronni grabbed two pots, went out and scooped up some snow and set the pots on the burners of the small stove. “Ronni, what are you up to?” “Beth, aren’t you curious?” “About what?” Silence, “Oh, no Ronni! We freed him from the castle, that’s enough! Let’s just leave him alone!” Ronni looked at Beth with big puppy-dog eyes, “No….” Ronni’s bottom lip curled, “I’m not doing it…” she whimpered and said “You’re my best friend, practically my sister…” Beth glowered at her, “Humph…Alright!” Several hours passed of going back and forth, inside, and outside, getting more ice to melt, pouring the hot water over the frozen body. “Ronni, what color eyes do you think elfy-boy here has?” said Mary-Beth as she leaned against the wall next to the fireplace. “What?” Ronni replied “I’m thinking green…” “Beth, could you ask a more stupid question?” Beth stared at her, “I think blue.” “Bet you five rupees that they’re green!” “You really think I’ll bet five…” “Twenty rupees!” “Now there we go! We need one more pot of water…” said Ronni; “I’ll get it!” said Beth as she ran out the door, leaving Ronni with this mysterious young man. She laid her eyes upon his face, handsome, golden blonde hair, long eyelashes fallen upon flawless cheeks; he looked no more than nineteen. The howling of the wind seemed to fade away from Ronni’s hearing, along with the crackling of the fire. Time just seemed to stand still as she looked at him; she held her hand out, took a step forward and laid it on the man’s forehead. She suddenly heard a tune, the haunting notes seemed familiar but she couldn’t name it. >-A-V- >-A-V. Everything went black, then she saw the moon, and a silhouette of someone, he screamed, the silhouette fell to the ground, then a tall figure in…a blizzard; then she saw, blue eyes, the cruelest, coldest, darkest ones she ever saw in her life. Her arm tingled, then piercing cold all over her body. Ronni released her hand from his forehead, and she returned to reality. “I got the ice melted, Ronni!” “Oh what...Yeah, here I’ll take it.” Said Ronni softly, somewhat out of breath, taking the pot of hot water, and putting it in a thermos. “Girl, are you alright? You look like you just saw a ghost!” said Mary-Beth, Ronni looked back at the young man, “No, I’m fine.” She flashed a weak smile at Beth. Ronni turned and carefully poured the water down the man’s back. The ice made a crackling sound, releasing him from it and he fell to the ground with a gasp, and suddenly started breathing, but wasn’t lifted from unconsciousness. The girls lifted him up on to the bed in the corner. “Dang! He’s hot! Bethy like…” said Mary-Beth as she looked at him. “Mary-Beth Andrews! You don’t even know this guy! In fact, for all we know he could be a wonked-up skuzz-butt!” “But a gorgeous wonked-up skuzz-butt!” “Ugh, just go get more snow!” said Ronni and she shoved the pot into Beth’s stomach.
