Carnival Fun!
So, last night was our annual Late Nite Carnival in the C1 lot (the Commuter parking lot just north of LaFollette and Johnson), and Caitlin and Mark decided not to go. sad I ended up going with Brittney, Ian and Sara around 10:00PM, which was a big mistake. It was not the fact that Ian was being himself; it was the fact that this event has always been jammed pack. You want to go very early and wait in line for the gates to open.

Brittney wanted to get her thrill for the night by going on the ferris wheel, and she is terrified of heights, especially in not-so-enclosed areas. As carnies (or even parkies, if you want to get technical), Ian and I kept telling her that nothing bad was going to happen. Of course, Ian told me behind her back that he himself did not trust some of these rides since they were put together within several hours yesterday. wink

We stood in line for the ferris wheel for about an hour and a half or so. It was not even worth it because we probably went on for three loops and then got off. Indiana Beach's wheel is so much better. You go around four or five times! But then again, we enjoyed playing celebrity alphabet game while we waited. The only problem was first and/or last names that begin with I, Q, V, X and Z are so hard to think of within a given amount of time.

And then there was the failed attempt of getting my elephant ears. mad Sara and I wanted one, and as always, the line was long. By midnight, the UPB group set off the fireworks, which took up more time since students were too interested in the firework show. However, I had a feeling that the people making the elephant ears and funnel cakes ran out of supplies or ran out of time to make more. stare Sara had to leave and fifteen minutes later, the three of us went back to DeHority.

But as we were walking along N. McKinley Avenue, we watch the giant Late Nite sign lit up on a crane at the grand finale of the firework show. The only thing was the sparks underneath it were still going, and we were smelling burnt metal. lol The top of the crane had a little fire, but it died down two minutes later. We were waiting to see if anyone called the fire department. Not a single truck came by our way.

So if I plan to go to the carnival next year, I'm gonna make sure my friends and I get there at 8:00 and wait. That and pre-register. sweatdrop
