So today I visited a local art museum, that was about 10 minutes avay from my school. It wasn't a huge place, but it was incredibly cool and way bigger than it looked. We only got to see around...3-4 galleries because we were pressed for time, not fair!!! gonk Anyways...we went into this huge elevator at one point and by huge, I mean that you could probably fit a car in it! Out af all the sculptures I was most taken by the one called "The Queen's Closet". It was like a shrine for the six wives of King Henry the VIII, but there was more to it than just that...it was a little creepy!
My favorite painting was of a mermaid and some man( it looked as if it could have been a wind spirit with flaming red hair, but I don't know) in a loving "embrace". Note, I put embrace in quotes because it isn't definate and could be debated about whether or not it is an embrace at all. They were surrounded by water and the sun was setting behind him. That picture was in their most extensive gallery and a vast majority of people like that specific one. We (I was in a group of six + my mom too rolleyes ) also got to see the famed (or not so famed neutral ) Flying Dutchman painting!><
Afterwards, we saw a strange sculpture called "The Rainforest Totem", but it just looked like...a thing, nothing like a rainforest and the totem part was easy to spot. Later, we got to make our own totems and it was AWSOME!!! I absolutely loved making mine, and I was the last one finished too razz . We had also taken a picture earlier, before we made the totems, infront of the "Crying Giant" sculpture. It was made entirely out of copper, but the artist oxidized some of it to give it a green/turquoise coloring.
So we left and everyone basically went to the local Season's Pizza. It was only around five to seven minutes away...but we had a lagger and it took more around 10-12 minutes! When we were about to leave I realized that my totem had melted(or the glue had) and it was just a big mess cry (I had left it in our car). I came home and then began to type this...well that was my day at the art museum!^^ heart
