I like Styx and Aerosmith once again. :]
Mr. Hill, if you happen to be reading this...deal with it.
I remember my friend Devon walking into class one day singing "Renegade" and Mr. Hill told him to shut up and proceeded to say that song was terrible. This was followed by hateful stares from both of us. Mr. Hill just smiled at me.
Then, near the end of High School, there was a period of time that lasted about two or three years where I said I hated Styx and Aerosmith. I wouldn't listen to them and I would get mad when my dad would try to win tickets to see them.
That's all changed.
What got me back into Aerosmith was seeing Joe Perry's book at Target. I bought it and was actually planning on returning it, when I decided to read it. It was amazing and it prompted me to read Joey Kramer's book and Steven Tyler's book. Both are amazing, as well. Then, I kind of fell in love with Tom Hamilton and it pushed me back towards Aerosmith. I bought a copy of Toys in the Attic and Live Bootleg and the rest is history.
What got me back into Styx was Tommy Shaw. heart I saw a Damn Yankess cassette tape of their second album at the library bookstore and bought it. Looking at the pictures, I thought the long haired blond guy was so cute. Then, I learned it was Tommy Shaw and that's who the guy in the "High Enough" video was that I liked. It was because of his voice that made me go and watch some Styx music videos last night and BAM! Here I am now, loving Styx once again.
Anyway, I am enjoying my sort of new-found love for both bands. I apologize if I ever said (on this website) that either Styx or Aerosmith sucks.
Rock on.
