Apparently Bunny-kun is not allowed to catch a break, because Hurricane Sandy is now the latest thing that has driven me to madness since 8/5/2012. Two Fridays ago I had acquired Clear 4G Internet service as a backup in case my DSL's sync goes wonky and ever since the fix Verizon made on my line speed, things were pretty good. Now with Hurricane Sandy's impact on the NYC area virtually guaranteed, I can't sit back and relax...again. >.<
I live in the Bay Ridge area, so flooding isn't my biggest concern. What are my biggest concerns are how Con Ed's power station under the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge will do and how will my DSL hold out. Last year, both fared Hurricane Irene with flying colors--I neither lost power nor had any DSL-related problems and this was with Irene having made a direct hit near the NYC area. Hurricane Sandy is a different beast altogether as it's going to stick around for all of Monday and the first half of Tuesday where I'm at--longer than the overnight session Irene had in my area. That, coupled with Verizon's initial botch job changing the cables in my backyard on 9/28/2012, makes me worry. (As if I didn't have enough to worry about already.) o.o
Right now, I am seriously hoping that either Hurricane Sandy will not turn west in an act of terrorism against us or that it will somehow weaken enough that by the time it gets to the NYC area, the impact won't be as bad as initially feared. So far, either scenario would require nothing short of divine intervention to happen--It's all in God's hands now. =.=
To everyone in the crosshairs of this evil known as Hurricane Sandy, I wish you all the best of luck. Let's hope that we can all wake up on Monday and Tuesday, look outside our windows, and go "That's it? o.o" to show we erred on the side of caution. As things stand, the best-case scenario is that we all did exactly that on those days to show we were prepared for the worst, only for the worst to not be as bad as we anticipated. o.o
And for those who have been struck by Hurricane Sandy, I wish you all a speedy recovery--the better to put your lives back together and continue on with daily life. o.o
