Anko was scratched, bruised, and in a pit. Kuro swung upside down from a tree, one of his arms hanging unnaturally at his side. It had been three days since he had been enrolled into the academy, and Kuro had fought tooth and nail the entire way, almost like a rabid animal- nearly the exact state he'd been in when Anko had first met him. Kuro wouldnt admit it, but he had a grudging respect for Anko. If she managed to catch him, he'd do as she asked for that moment, and dissappear again as soon as he was done. While he wasnt openly treated with disdain, as the village orphan Naruto was, Kuro could tell that people didnt actually want him around. They wouldnt treat him like he had a disease, but they seemed to think that his apparent age implied stupidity. If one looks at another with disgust, it isnt invisible to the one being looked upon. In this way, Kuro felt a certain kinship with both Naruto and Anko, as they both received that look from others- Anko for her former ties to Sannin Orochimaru, and Naruto for reasons yet unexplained. However, despite his respect for Anko, he felt she treated him like a rather nasty toddler, one that wont go to bed on time. At first he thought to ignore it, she had no real power over him so she wasnt a threat, but he hadnt taken into account her sheer single-mindedness to what she perceived as her mission. Perhaps... I should try to reach a middle ground.....
Anko, in her hole, was beginning to realize something as well. Firstly, her disobedient charge was hella strong. Secondly, he was probably one of the few people who could get the drop on her- something she hadnt had to deal with since her days with Orochimaru. Finally, she realized that she might've been going about this the wrong way. Despite the way he had fought, he hadnt actually hurt her too bad- nothing compared to his arm, which had been broken in the scuffle directly preceeding their current predicament. "Hey, Brat." she called up. A sullen silence responded to her call. "Brat!" The silence grew more sullen, if that was even possible. "BRAT!" "I HAVE A NAME DAMMIT!" the yell responded. The sheer vehemence in the yell surprised her. Thinking back, she really never had called him by name. That would piss her off if it happened to her, so she could empathize with that. "Sorry, Kuro." "What." sullen. Well, she'd been sullen as a kid too... "Why dont you want to go to the academy? Dont you want to be a ninja like the rest of the short stacks around here?" "..." He said something she didnt catch. "What?" A sigh. "I cant do seals." What? "What do you mean you cant do seals?" "My tenketsu* are set up differently than other people, making seals impossible." Well that would be a big problem. "Well, not like I need them anyway." Kuro continued after a half second. "Um... why not?" she didnt think he had enough training to do something like that with any jutsu. "I dont know... I just 'feel' how its supposed to flow...and I do it. I dont always get it right at first, but seals mess it up more..." "Then dont use seals." "What do you mean?" his voice sounded confused... and closer. "Well, if you dont need them, do it your way. Hell, go show the Hokage, nothing says that it isnt a kekkai genkai." Kuro's head peeked out over the side of the hole. "But...." "But nothing, that Orange troublemaker doesnt give up, why should you?" "Okay... Fine, I'll give it a shot." "One more thing." Anko said, looking up at Kuro. "Yeah?" "Could you help me out of here? How in the hell did you dig it so deep?"
(*Tenketsu are the points in the Chakra Pathway System in the bodies of the people in the world of Naruto. The Byakkugan allows the users to see it, and the Gentle fist attacks it.)
