I stood there,
i watched you go,
with every step you took
my pulse began to slow.
you looked back at me,
as i looked back at you.
as i stood there, i thought to myself.
if you only knew.
as i turned away,
you ran back to me.
enclosed me in a hug.
and told me to stay.
You told me you would miss me,
id never leave your mind.
you didn't want to go.
but you knew it was your time.
you promised me you would never forget,
the days and nights we had,
and the long lonely night,
when we first met.
You said you would come back,
as you lightly broke our hug,
you took a step forward, then
looked back behind.
saw me standing there,
tears streaming down my face,
my body shaking,
there was nothing i could say.
You knew i didn't want you to leave,
but you didn't have a choice,
you had to go,
it wasn't your choice.
through my tears,
i struggled to see,
as you stepped on that bus.
and found a seat.
The distance between me and you
grew greater and greater,
as i stood there i thought to myself.
if i only could.
You told me to stay,
and i promised i would
so i sat down right then and there,
id sit and wait forever if i could...
