So it turns out that I have a bunch of neighbors that are just about my age, give or take a few years that live within the vicinity. I'm thinking that this is nice, something new to adjust to and some thing else entirely.
I mean, yeah- ok, I'll admit that I've felt the slightest twinge of "Urk" when I heard that they attended Royal. But I'm telling ya, these guys are alright. They're pretty mellow, very "normal" stereotypical teenager.... and suburban.... but I can deal with the music. I don't mind rap, but I'll never enjoy listening to it; but I won't say a thing about it, I still have to mind my manners. Fortunately, they make up for it by liking techno. So they're pretty cool so far.
I've dubbed this group "The Chris Cult." and I'll tell you why in a minute. I first met Chris (We'll call him Chris Z.) when I was walking over to Adam's for spending time with him. Y'know, for a relaxing day at the park. Now, he (Chris Z.) caught up to me, and apparently he was on his way home, he doesn't live to far from us, and it was nice to have some company for a short while of that long journey. We talked for a while, about video games, our names, our family, interests, living conditions, school, the weather, etc. Usual topics for a friendly conversation. After which we casually bid each other adieu and parted ways on a friendly topic.
I met Chris Z. again today. He called me over just after Meghan's grandfather so kindly gave me a ride to my place. Apparently he had previously visited the condo just before I came home to see if I could hang out with his friends. Which is pretty cool and flattering. ANYWAY! So I go over to see him and he was with a friend, male, about 5' 6, 17 years old pretty average and humble looking, he wore black. A black bulky jacket, black formal pants, a red hat, a faded red T-shirt, and he had these bulky headphones around his neck that extended from this long thick chord into his pocket. These headphones made for lovely speakers. His name was Chris. Yes, so for a while I was hanging out with Chris Z. and Chris. I learned shortly after wards that there are two more Chris' in this new circle of friends: yes, do the math and that's four Chris' in one whole group of friends... Now you know why I dubbed this group the Chris cult. So we were all chatting, and someone else was dropped off. Her name was A.J. She was a tiny little thing, short too, she was on her phone texting away like an "average" teenage girl. She had a huge leather purse, skinny jeans, a tang top, white shoes and rainbow peace sign earrings. I could have sworn that she was a senior, but no, she was 15. And I totally didn't see that coming, but the shock of believing her to be older must have flattered her or something, she asked a few questions after that. I'll say we got along pretty well.
So later on, we all decided to go hang out in their garage. Which is the coolest thing on earth! You won't believe it till you see it. They have all their stuff cluttered in the front, a narrow path to the right, and then you have to walk through a cupboard, and then there's this cozy hang out that you never could have thought to have existed. The whole thing was hidden by a this thin plastic sheet that was hung from the ceiling and all the clutter in the front. I mean, yeah, its a little on the small-side but its totally awesome! Personally, I think it would b way cooler if it had a bit more decoration to it. There was half a couch in the corner, a few chairs on the other side, a tiny table big enough for a T.V. dinner in the center, and they had an iPod player on the shelf. It was kind of messy but I was more so impressed with how the whole hideout was put together. Chris Z. claimed that they once had a TV and a game system in there, they even used to hold parties and cram people in there, but apparently one of the neighbors called the police and while the cop did compliment him on the hideout, they couldn't throw parties or harness the magic of a gaming system in there ever again. I'm not even joking.
So when we all got bored of sitting in there and just chatting, we left and went our separate ways. Chris and A.J. followed Chris Z. to his house, I came home to type up this lovely little journal entry because I thought the whole experience was the craziest thing. I couldn't finish the whole thing because later on, when they all returned, Chris Z. came to my condo unit and invited me over to spend a bit more time with the group since they were back. So I met Jeremy and Amanda, they had that look like they just got through mating and everyone pretty much figured since Jeremy was topless. (That guy has relatively impressive arms.) But nobody cared, so I casually kept a low profile, and spoke at appropriate times. Manners are everything when one is to appear relatively normal and polite. Jeremy and Amanda left since they weren't getting any privacy, which is understandable, they even drove off when everyone migrated outside, they tend to do that a lot. A.J. left a few minutes after Jeremy and Amanda disappeared. Ironically it was a familiar face that I saw in the driver's seat, he had orange hair, and I've seen him in my classes, his name was John. But they left too suddenly for me to say anything, so I watched them drive away. Apparently Chirs Z. doesn't like him because he's weird. It was strange to hear that without being one of the ones being called weird. So it was the two Chris' and I, we were the only ones left. There was nothing to do and eventually we all just parted ways for the day.
Personally, I think I made a lovely first impression because of my manners. I was able to blend in relatively well, and I've molded myself into an appropriate image in their eyes. They see me as a mature, unique female who shouldn't be questioned but merely accepted. That probably isn't the best explanation for it, so long as I can make sense of it then its good enough for me. I can't exactly say that I trust them entirely yet, I suppose that I should keep my guard up, but they honestly sound like good people, at least that's the image they'll keep around me. So that was my crazy Thursday afternoon, after school. I'm actually looking forward to hanging out with them again.
