It was a dark and stormy night when Sakura ducked into the Flaming Rose Dance Club. She was just trying to get out of the rain she wasn’t looking for romance. She sat down at the bar and ordered a monkey tail. She sipped enjoying the tastes of chocolate and banana’s. She smiled when she saw Saki approaching, Saki was a friend, and only a friend. Ieka sat in a corner contemplating whether she should shove her dagger in the man next to her, or leave. She brushed back a strand of blue hair, and smiled at the young man, but she wasn’t interested in him. “So, you waiting for someone, or can I take you away?” He asked, she could tell by his voice that he was intoxicated. “I’m waiting for a friend, his name is Zane.” “Haven’t met or heard of him, sure you don’t want to stay with me?” She shook her head when the blonde entered the room. He had blue eyes and was well built. Probably the best detective in town, he always gave her the best jobs. Churiko closed her eyes. They were green rimmed with grey and often times seemed cloudy and glazed as she would be lost in thought. The Flaming Rose dance club was not a place she would usually hang out at. No in fact it was very different. For one thing it was not strictly a lesbian night club. She ran her hand through her short red hair with the think blonde streaks. Currently she was thinking of two night ago when she had actually gone who me with another woman. Churiko had bolted at the last minute realizing she was not cut out to be a lesbian she put the scotched filled glass back to her mouth. Saki sat down across from Sakura. “Saki, what are you doing here?” “I wanted to hang out with some of the other guys. I saw you and decided to say hi.” She paused and smiled before speaking. “I just wanted to get out of the rain, I hate night clubs.” She stated explaining why she was there. Sinako, one of Saki’s friends, came up and smiled at Sakura. “We’ll who is this lovely young flower?” Saki grimaced. “Why’d we agree to meet here?” Zane asked, draining his martini. “Only safe place, Zane,” Ieka replied, sipping her own cocktail. “So what do you have for me?” “Depends what you want…” He gave her a sexy grin. “Stop that!” She told him and shoved him away, lightly. “Don’t make me use my dagger.” “Oh please, my dear, you wouldn’t.” Zane kissed her lightly and handed her a package. “There you go, babe.” She ripped open the package, eager to see the contents; it contained information on her next target. “What about the money?” she asked. “Even assassins have to be paid.” “You’ll get it when the job is done.” He replied, ordering another martini. Churiko looked up from her scotch when she heard the tinkling laughter her eyes went to the other end of the bar. A young girl with shoulder length blue black hair, she was a little taller than average women. Her body was lean and had whip cord strength to it. Churiko’s senses flared and she wondered at the weird sensations in her body. Was she a lesbian after all? She turned away from the girl her finely sculpted brows slanting down in confusing. She pushed her glass away and laid her head on her hands. ‘What am I?” She groaned in frustration. “This is Sakura, a friend of my family’s.” Saki introduced her. Sakura laughed. “Friend, more like family member, I practically grew up at your house.” She corrected, a bright smile on her face. “True,” He stated, joining in on her laughter. “So you aren’t dating?” Sinako phrased this statement as a question, more then fact. “No way,” They said in unison, laughing again, at each other and at the two of them going out. Wanting to change the subject Saki turned to his friend. “Sakura, why don’t you sing for us, they have Karaoke?” Sakura paused for a moment then nodded. “Sure.” Ieka place her head in her hands, and sighed, she watched as the young girl stood on the platform. After all it was karaoke night at the club. “Oh brother, another singer,” Zane whispered, he’d had his fill of people who thought they were the worlds best singers. “Want to go?” “No,” she spoke quietly, then opened her mouth, a single note came from her throat. “Now you can’t hear her, but I want to.” She smiled politely Zane sat and gazed at her as she read her documents and listened to the young girl sing. She was right he couldn’t hear what she was singing. How had he come across such a beautiful girl like Ieka? Her dark blue hair was pulled back in a single braid, but a single strand of hair had come loose. Her eyes shown like a light blue sea, and she had a fair complexion, but she didn’t burn easily. He on the other hand, felt like he was nothing special. Churiko stood up to leave when the girl stepped on the platform. She was at the door when the first note came sweetly from the girl. She stopped and sat in the nearest seat to her. The girl was so beautiful, she felt strange like something was responding to the notes. Something powerful and maybe even dangerous, her eyes became slits, wasn’t music supposed to tame the beast? She didn’t dare look in a mirror. She didn’t need to; she already knew her eyes had become gold and reptilian like. She hated this weirdness in her; it was as if some great ferocious beast resided in her bosom. She place her hand between her breast grasping at an intangible pain. Sweat beaded on her forehead, she blinked and looked down at her chest when she felt a very real pain. Her fingers already abnormally long and graceful; had become longer. The lower and second join in her fingers had disappeared, while the first ones still remained, they were less flexible. They also had acquired a gently curve to them. She dropped her hands to her side and shoved them into her pockets; she realized her mistake when she heard her faded blue jeans rip. Obviously her hands or claws she though, were sharp; very sharp considering the warm liquid sliding down her thighs. She could smell her own blood, and her fear. The transformation had never gone so far or so long before. The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end. Someone was watching her; gold eyes met with sea blue ones; shock registered in the strangers eyes. Shock and a strange sort of recognition; Churiko bolted out the door then. She did not see the dark blue haired girl rise from her seat half way. Indecision in her gaze; both knew they had never seen each other before, but both had felt the curious and strange connection. “Ieka,” Zane questioned, pulling her back down into her seat. “Zane, let me go,” She told him. “That girl is bleeding.” “How do you know, she was at least ten feet away.” He stated the fact. “In my line of work, you learn to smell blood, no matter how far away you are.” She replied at least it was half true. When she worked she used her senses: hearing, sight, smell, touch, and yes even taste. When her job was done, she’d leave her paw print that was her mark…the assassin WolfSpawn. “Since when have you cared about someone else?” Zane asked, he was questioning her motive. “I care about you, don’t I?” She threw back, she kissed his cheek, then tossed him the keys. “I’ll meet you back at home.” Sakura switched the song to ‘Crush’, she opened her mouth to sing the first note, and a beautiful sound came out, shocking the audience. The girl who had been staring at her got up to leave. When she reached the door, the young lady sat down at the nearest booth to her. Then the girl suddenly got up and ran out the door. Sakura caught a glimpse of her blood soaked jeans. Confused, Sakura went back to her booth when the song was done. Churiko ran as fast as she could and still could feel someone behind her. The pupils of her eyes expanded trying to capture any light available. Some what like a cat she thought, somewhere in the back of her mind. Her legs were beginning to burn badly as salt from her sweat mingled with the blood and seeped into her open wound. She skidded to a halt when she came to a dead end. She panted heavily her strength nearly gone. Why are you chasing me, she wondered in her mind. Panic had long since over come any common sense she had. Her wounds were not helping the animal instincts that had risen with her said to flee and then turned to unexpectedly to a fierce determination to slay her tormentor. She stood still as her instincts warred within. She tilted her head up slightly and caught the scent of her pursuer. It was the smell of a predator, she shuddered slightly then her humanity came crashing like a tidal wave into her mind. I have to feel if any one sees me like this they’ll freak out and maybe kill me. She fell to the ground as a painful sensation occurred on her shoulder blades. She heard a sound like ripping flesh and then a wet slurping sound followed by a very loud sounding pop. Immediate she was aware of two new appendages on her back. Wings, what the hell?! The scent came to her again, this time it was stronger. She glanced up the building sides then leapt several feet in the air, and began to climber, her claws easily creating holds in the mortar between the bricks. Churiko looked down into a pair of familiar eyes their emotions unreadable. She was suddenly very aware of the storm as she launched herself from the building into the night sky. “Its not me you should be hiding/running from dragon girl” Ieka whispered in the storm, she shivered slightly “Might as well head home.” She walked slowly, then began shifting and started to run, soon the clouds were gone, a moon shown over head; it gave off an eerie glow. She frowned, glad that she was almost home, she wouldn’t want to be caught as a wolf, that was for sure. “Zane,” She whispered in the darkness, she turned to flip the lights on. “I’ve been wondering…” He came out of her room, carrying a wolf figurine. “Why do you collect these?” “WolfSpawn,” She replied as if the name explained everything. “What were you doing in my room?” “Getting these,” He held up his two guns. “These are mine, when’d they get to your room?” “Last night, I took them for shooting practice, you weren’t here to ask.” She passed him and put the figurine back on her dresser, she smiled at him. “So who’d you chase?” He asked watching her, a small twinkle in his eye, she as forgiven for taking his guns without asking. “Just some girl, she took off before I could help her.” To understand herself, she added in her head. “Well I’m off to bed, night.”
