“Well, girls, how was it?” Isabella asked as they came back dirt ridden. “It looks like you had fun!” She accused cheerfully, not noticing the ‘Holy s**t’ looks they were giving. “Well, if you don’t count the wolf attack, I’d say it was pretty good for the best part!” MJ sniffed at her. She was limping and it was highly noticeable. One of the wolves had gotten her ankle with both its fangs and its teeth. She was bleeding but no one saw it much. “MJ, you’re hurt…” Fire-star was the first to point it out. He caught the scent of blood long ago but just now figured it was MJ. “It’s only a scratch, I’ll be fine…” she tried to get out of the fact that people would be freaking out if she showed her true pain. “Honest!” She faked everything through what she could find.
“MJ, just take it off, would you? If we don’t see it, how are we supposed to help you?” Isabella nixed. When MJ didn’t concur to the order, Isabella became furious. “Take off the damn shoe!” She wasn’t too happy with her at this point, everyone could tell. “Isabella, I’m doing this for the good of everyone around. It’s not to pretty.” She already knew how bad it was just by the feeling of it, why bother with looking at it any further? “This isn’t for those of the weak stomach.” She sighed, slipping a finger under the edge of her boot as many of the servants left. Her foot was released after a bit of ease to show the tore up skin and the pools of blood upon her foot. She was considered lucky by Fire-star that she still had a foot to walk on. “This is why I didn’t want you to go out…” Isabella sneered. “I knew this would happen to you. I just knew it! You would be attack by anyone who wanted you dead!” Isabella nearly blew a gasket she was so mad. “Isabella, calm down.” MJ said coolly. “These were wolves, not people. I’ve handled worse than this and you know that.” She knew that everyone but Fire-star knew about her father. Everyone treated her differently now that they knew, but Fire-star didn’t know so the two [MJ and Fire-star] were still friends like usual. “I’ll clean it out and bandage it. It’s just a bit of a flesh-wound is all.” She lied. It was nearly as deep as the bones in her body. She had a plan to heal it herself. “If that is what you wish to do, then I’ll leave you to it.” Isabella said softly and left. Fire-star stood in the same place, just glaring at MJ with angry eyes. He knew something was wrong with the way she was so calm about it. “You lied to her.” Fire-star said sharply. “Your wound is worse than it shows to be. Why would you lie about something so horrid?” He snarled. MJ stood slowly and hobbled over to the door that led to a bath, not paying attention to the man in her room. She didn’t care what people thought about her. “There are things that I do to keep people safe, such as this.” She said slyly. The warm water sloshed over her foot and she winced in pain, but that was the only thing she showed. The water turned a light red color, nearly fading to a pink color as it slid down the drain. “I must protect those that do not fear me…at least not yet.” She whispered the last part. “Yes, but it makes no sense as what was going on with you lately. Is something wrong?” He asked a bit more soothingly. “I’ve never seen you take such a blow without saying something about it.” MJ’s hand was nearly lost in the pink water surrounding her foot. She moved her fingers in a weaving motion as her hand became a deep violet color. “It’s just a small injury. I’ll be fine in a day or so.” She muttered, agitated by his tone. She knew what she was doing…she had to do this almost twice a day for thirteen years. “Yes, but this lies so deep. How do you expect to walk for days to come?” He nagged. He wanted answers not just some remark that told him she wasn’t really in the mood to talk to him. “Why won’t you talk to me?” “Because it’s none of your business what happens to me, okay? You’re not my father!” She turned to him with dark green eyes. “You don’t have to know everything that goes on, for one thing. And another thing, no one said that I couldn’t take care of myself, so just leave me alone and go away.” She spat. She truly was pissed off and there wasn’t anything that they could do to calm her down until the night came.
That night, MJ received a letter from the Snow Country. She opened it to find two papers; one with a note and one with a copy of a peace treaty. She read the thing and she didn’t like the fact that it practically declared defeat (totally and utterly) to the Snow Country from the feud that had lasted years on end, only without a war to end the entire thing. “War…feud? Why can’t I remember any of this?” MJ murmured as she read it. “Maybe my past lies within the snow country…?”
