Rosalie sat in her bedchambers staring out the window for hours on end. Carmella was beginning to worry about her but she just couldn’t get through the white fox’s head with the morals of sitting alone. “Ms. Kajura, please…would you listen to me about this? I’m worried something horrible may happen if you do not attend this hearing!” Carmella explained. “Milady, are you even listening to me?” Rosalie continued to stare out the window no matter what the words coming from behind her were saying. Hearings weren’t part of the child still living within her soul. She was a girl of twenty-two and everyone in the castle thought of her to be different than everyone else. “Carmella…this country is the land of peace among the many countries. No one would ever try to destroy it whether they had a good reason or not.” Rosalie explained. “This I can promise…” Carmella shook her head. She never could agree with this princess. No matter what it was that happened; something horrible always happens when she didn’t do anything about and it only makes matters worse. “Sister Rosalie…I must speak with you…” Toshiro, Rosalie’s elder brother, the only living blood relation left behind by the Kajura family, walked in through the doors into the deep blue room. Rosalie turned to face the Snow Leopard demon with her glowing cerulean eyes. “Good evening, Brother Toshiro…” Rosalie greeted him. “How are you feeling?” Toshiro smiled to his sister and eyed Carmella. His eyes were flaring with a terrible chill that made her run out of the room like something important was calling her. “There is some abnormal activity happening within the Fire-lands…” Toshiro lied, all in hope of finding his beloved from long ago. “We believe they are purposely aiming at our city gates for their practice.” “Have you ever seen such a beautiful sky, Big Brother?” Rosalie asked, clearly not paying attention. “All the clouds surrounding the sun in such a peaceful manner…it’s impossible for anything to happen such as that…” Rosalie’s specialty was to foretell the future within the skies. She had been doing it for years now and her brothers’ concern was none other than out of a mild manner. “Yes, but the clouds do not always tell truthfully, Sister...” Toshiro chided mercifully. “You and I both know that…” Toshiro sat next to his sister, Rosalie turning to face him in return. “I just don’t want to see something terrible happen again.” “This is why another war should not be granted. Our citizens would be far to upset with us were we to wage into unknown territory.” Rosalie scolded soothingly. It was for the best that they waged war long ago, when everyone in the Kajura family was alive, but to do so now, when everything was about to fall apart, there was no way they could possibly go forth. Their country was far too weak to survive more attacks. “Yes, but Ms. Huwaine is at the throne now. You remember what she did…?” Rosalie’s eyes turned on her brother. She stood in a judgmental manner. “Big Brother, how could you think of such a thing at a time like this? Violence is not the only answer we have…on the plus side, I’ve done far worse to her than any young child should have gone through…” Toshiro took his sisters’ hands in his as she sat down again. The white fox reached up and held the small pendant in her hands. “Her memories will soon enough come back to her if I were to leave this place once more; either that or I shall return them to her when the time is right.” “Rosalie…”
“Carmella, I have something to ask of you…” Rosalie asked softly in the dim hallway. “Have you noticed that my brother has been acting strange lately?” “Well, it is that time of year. You do know that, right?” Carmella persisted. “Or do I need to remind you again?” “I do remember, but it’s worse this time than it ever has been.” Rosalie sighed. “I’m beginning to become worried about him…” “Rosalie-hime…” “The anniversary of our family’s massacre.”
