To see him there With eyes full of pain Trying to stand in spite of it, The call to Death’s lane
To watch him fall, With that will of fire Desperately wanting to live His condition is dire
To witness it all, The desire to go on Yet, not the strength It struggles ‘till it’s gone
To have to lay him, To his eternal rest Eyes full of tears I hold him to my chest
He is man’s best friend, A creation with a heart, Devotion to his master, And never wanting to part
Yet, At the crossroads of destiny, The fork in the road, We bid goodbye And agree to take away his load
My last glimpse at his eyes, Windows to the soul, Showed forgiveness for it, Yet sadness still took its toll
Now,
When I look up to the stars, I know he waits, To forever frolic and play And from my heart, lift heavy weights
Buddy, if you can hear, You will always be cherished, For kindness unending, And strength as you perished
