«Kennington»
Unlike that of his carefree friend, Nexus was a good boy. He did his work, turned assignments in ahead of time, he was never late and he most definitely never skipped class. The boy had never even missed a day of school period for that matter. 180 days every year for 10 years was quite the accomplishment and Nexus intended to keep his perfect record though his senior year, ill or not. –Not that he was ill.—
He’d been in class for a good seven or eight minutes, just writing in his little black book when he felt his cell vibrate in the depths of his pocket. Normally the phone was turned off at this point, the good boy did obey all school rules after all. Seeing the text was from his dear comrade he quickly text back, making sure to add Reid’s name to the send list. The wording Sky had used gave the impression of more than one party on the recipient’s list.
Sounds fantastic. Any ideas? My dads are going out tonight; we could hang out at my place? Watch movies and catch up?
With Reid’s uncle in the police force there would be no chance for Sky to smoke if he felt the need to and Nexus wasn’t up to spending long hours with Sky’s parents. So the best conclusion, he thought, had been his house. One of his dads smoked weed, so the smell wouldn’t be noticed as long as they stayed in the basement/entertainment room.
A thought crossed Nexus’ mind as he eased his phone closed, to which he pushed directly back open. How he’d forgotten to check in on the poor girl was beyond him, but he quickly text Lana a simple message.
Hey Lana, I heard about what happened last night... Is everything ok?
It was the therapist in him, honestly. He’d always felt a deep need to help everyone around him. He wanted to make those around him happy and by helping them sort out problems he felt he was doing just that. Besides that he’d come to call Lana a friend over the past couple of years; enjoyed conversing with her. Her stutter had never bothered him; he thought it a nice quirk. That and Lana was a bright girl to boot, with a delightful accent.
Calm down, I'm calling you to say I'm capsized, staring on the edge of safe.
