Last Saturday I went to Sakura Matsuri.
It was so awesome!
I especially loved the Shaved Ice merchants. n___n
They were screaming and shouting, and it was just so joyous that my heart filled with love for them. I wa sput on the spot rather badly, though, but I stilll have mad love for those asian dudes and dudettes. Gotta love the Japanese... and asians in general. n__n Dude... there was a Japanimation stand that was selling backpacks, T-shirts, full metal alchemist watches ( gonk heart ), leaf bands (Naruto! whee heart ) and a whole bunch of other awesome stuff.
Steve would up buying the Hentai Inside bag. XD
It was a parody of the Intel Inside logo. XD Hence- Hentai Inside.
Claudie was tempted, but she didn't buy the Kyo-kun backpack (Furuba is just too tempting!)
Then... he brought out the art materials.
I melted. I only had fourty bucks on me, and I spent 39 dollars at that stand. XD
He brought out the really thin markers first. Copic, I think.
And then, he brought out, like, four types of paper selling in fourty paper sets. heart The Japanese type. High quality. The kind Mangaka use. heart heart heart
And that set of seventy two Neopikos'? I wanted that so badly! crying But like I said: I had a strict budget.
"How much is the set of seventy two?"
"Hundred and fifty dollars."
Me: ((O_O)); *thinking* 'H-hoooly cr-raap!'
I asked him if he had anything.. a little lower in price range. A set of twenty four or so markers. n_n Price? n_n Fourty eight dollars. O_O;
"Uh... smaller numbers?" I sheepishly asked.
Finally, he pulled out the basic set. Twelve markers... for twenty eight dollars. >_<
But I wanted paper. It was either borrow eight dollars from a friend and owe her for two or three weeks before paying her back and not even having good quality paper, or buy the baby set and buy paper.
The paper bundles sold for about six bucks a pop.
i asked about th differences between the papers. I got Type A and a certain Type B. Apparently, there were two type of Type B. XD
Type A has a border and is marked with scales and is already ruled out. Type B is blank, high quality paper that is a bit thicker so I can ink on it. n_n
The markers are not that thin... and the really thin tipped, awesome markers are, like, three bucks each. O_O;;
THAT is high quality Japan style!! DX
I've already started playing with my markers. I really like them, especially because I have a pale flesh coloured one that I really like. n_n
Of course, since I have one girlor two in full color... okay, three if you're counting my Versailles excerpt along with Rakushi, who has three to four colors on her if you count white.... and pink.... and I want to color her shorts a khaki color, but I don't have that color in my twelve set. I'm considering experimenting with an old marker set that has a MUCH larger variety, but I have no idea how they'll take to this paper...
Plus, I still need my ink nibs and Super India Ink bottle-I have nothing else that will give me thin black lines. I'm still going to be washing nibs, it seems. sweatdrop
But, the Sakura Matsuri was AWESOME.. I made a new friend, and she is awesome. Mitsuko RULES.
... Mitsuko is Erik's grandmother. n_n;
Full Japanese, making Erik 1/4 Japanese, she can read japanese kanji, etc.... and even corrected me on a slight little grammar error in Japanese. She rules!! sweatdrop
