* * * * Later that night after Rei left, Daichi searched his pockets for a certain pair of gloves. He finally found them and he heaved a sigh of relief. The gloves were bright red with a white cross stitched onto the backs. Daichi put them on and he felt electricity flood into his body. The gloves had the ability to convert the friction left over from his kinetic energy into electrical energy. In short, while wearing them Daichi could make electricity every time he moved. Daichi began jumping back and forth and jogging in place. Finally, he was confident that he had built up enough electricity. He grabbed onto two of the bars to the door of his cell and sent an electric current through them to make them weaker. When the bars where weak enough, Daichi quietly broke them off the door and carefully set them down and stepped out of the cell. He found his weapons near his cell next to a shadowed corner. That alone should’ve told him something, but it didn’t. When he reached for his halberd, a blade extended from the shadows and tapped his throat. “Well, well. What do we have here?” said a familiar male voice. “Rei knew you’d try to run.” Daichi backed up slowly as the tall man stepped out from the shadows, the moonlight shining on his silver cross earrings. “Who are you?” Daichi asked uneasily. The man had a strange demonic aura. “Kuro. This is how I looked before I died,” he said. “I thought you knew about guardians.” “I do. I just didn’t know you were a demon,” Daichi said, eyeing his halberd, calculating his chances of escape. “Surprise surprise.” Without warning, Daichi ducked around Kuro’s sword and ran towards his halberd. He had just grabbed it when the sound of a gunshot rang out behind him. “Stop right there, Somai,” Rei snarled. She was holding a small handgun and she had it aimed at Daichi. It was still smoking slightly. “Drop your weapon,” Rei commanded. In response, Daichi grabbed his revolver and aimed it at her. “You drop yours first.” Rei laughed. “Even you can’t beat both me and Kuro, Somai.” “You underestimate me, Nerio,” Daichi said. He put his gun back in the holster and ran up to Rei as quickly as she had run at him the first time they met. As he passed her, Daichi grabbed Rei’s face and sent a jolt of electricity through her body. Rei fell to the ground, twitching, and Kuro rushed to her side. “What did you do?!” Kuro snarled, wincing slightly with the pain he felt through Rei. “I only electrocuted her. Don’t worry, it won’t kill her. She’ll recover,” Daichi said coldly. He swung his halberd to rest on his shoulder and said, “I have a feeling we’ll meet again. And when that happens, don’t expect me to be so kind.” “Don’t expect me to let you walk away unscathed,” Kuro growled, wincing again. Daichi turned and began to walk away. “Whatever. Ta!” he said calmly, waving as he walked.
