Since it's Gino Gambino's birthday, the Harem put out a birthday party for him, and I'm just entering the contest that's being held for drabbles! I've decided for the theme to be Gino's Birthday. Enjoy!

Gino Gambino looked at his unwrapped present with a somewhat uncomfortable expression.
“What? What’s wrong with it?” Johnny asked, puffing his cigar.
“Nothing, nothing…” Gino said, his eyes drifting away from his father.
“You know, when I was your age-”
“Don’t get me wrong Dad, I’m grateful. I really am.” Gino said, forcing a smile. “It’s just…very…”
“Very expensive is what it was.” Johnny said. “The best of the best materials went into this. Designed by scientific professionals and handcrafted by the most skilled Gaians in Durem.” He took another drag from the cigar and his large brown eyes needled his son.
”It’s um…rather pink, Dad.” Gino held up the long pink skipping rope with both hands. Even the handles were pink.
“Gino, you can’t be a man until you accept the pink into your life.”
“…you can’t be serious.”
“Where do you think I would be today if I hadn’t REALLY embraced the rose?”
“Exactly where you are now?”
“WRONG!” Johnny pounded the table with his fist. “I would be a penniless pauper, that’s what! I’d be poor, pitiful, alone and lonely!”
“Dad, just yesterday you were saying about how you were alone and lonely.” Gino said. “Over the phone to that lady from the-”
“I know what I said and to whom. I don’t need you repeating it.” Johnny blushed, but only a fraction. “Now get to using that rope! If you’re going to be a boxing champion, you have to start somewhere!”
“…thank you Dad.” Gino sighed, eyeing the birthday cake that they still hadn’t cut. There was a long silence, and then Johnny Gambino laughed uproariously.
“You…you actually believed me…harharhar HARRR!!” He pounded the table, nearly levitating the cake. “I was only kidding son. Here’s a bottle of Crown Royale. Happy Birthday.” Johnny passed his son the liquor and Gino sagged in his chair, a relieved smile plastered onto his face.
