The light that blinded angels eyes
as smoke arose throughout the skies
the ground was broken, bodies torn
metal scraped and tires worn
not a sound outside the blast
shadows loom where bodies cast
humans yelling a running race
soldiers staring an empty face
I won't forget it I can't forget
the price that's payed a soldier's debt
no matter where I go wherever
a piece of me is there forever.

- Description: This is a poem I've written. My name isn't important but my experience is. This poem is manifested from the feelings I experienced during my time serving as a Soldier in Afghanistan. The first big blast my unit took on route triggers caused the near deaths of two soldiers in the convoy. They were hit by a roadside IED (Improvised explosive device) which caused the vehicle to become nothing more than parts and the men to become silent bodies inside.
