• What is a star even anyway? The saying
    is--that old cliche--
    we are all made
from ancient stardust, we are living
    stars,
    and it's true but--
what does it mean if I offer a kiss
    and am returned a slap?
    Am I really that smelly?

I am only wishing on balls of hot gas--stars--and you
    as well, I suppose....
    We are stars....

If instead of giving each other chocolate,
on Valentine's, we offered our own cookie hearts,
maybe I'd feel no lack, as I offer you my cookie
    and you spit it back.

The loneliest keep their cookies intact,
    and are rich like kings--

    Instead of chocolates
    and stars,
    I'd prefer that.
