• In light of all of the festivities
    all the people a blur
    the fake pretty smiles
    my relatives incomprehensible chatter
    an impromptu reunion
    I stood utterly alone
    I was lost in a sea of strangers
    and somehow I forgot how to swim
    My lungs hurt and no one heard my screams
    I ended up a shadow in the corner
    the silence so bittersweet
    and for a time i began to regain my sanity
