Department Store Santa
Alas! It is Christmas season again
I time for shopping and a time for work
True not all work on a holiday;
except for me
Every year, Every second
I hear and speak to little children
asking for different things,
most wanted toys;
except one...
Before I hear and speak to this child
she was at the back of the line
waiting for her turn. Like everyone.
However I do remember the very sentence she spoke
That made me tear and so to this affected near me.
I asked her what she wanted as the usual question
and she replied shyly.
"I wish for a Christmas tree" Was all she spoke
I could not speak at that moment.
For all of the children whom asked for playthings,
only one asked for a simple ornament.
I wanted to ask the child, but the way I saw her
glistening, innocent eyes. Those made me sad in
my inner self.
