I didn't recognise you from your eyes
Electrifying behind a gilded mask but
Your arms: swift hands, resilient fingers,
Quivering with passion on the keys to make it
Sing, and show me who you are, show me who you are
Have some composure/ Where is your posture?
"What a composition!" Try to hold the scale you're playing
Only to be led away by a different kind of metronome so you
Run; hitch up your golden gown, waterlogged with
The sadness of realisation sweeping across the hall
Away from me, as I say, in harmonic hushed semitones,
"You did well to conceal your name, my darling,
But you stripped your soul bare tonight."

Description:
A Musical Masquerade. Perhaps a trickier one to fully figure out.
This was originally the story for my avi in a contest, but I liked it, tweaked it, and now it's here before you :)
The structure is the way it is for a reason. COMMENTS & Critique (without them, ratings are empty, so please do drop a line) - Date: 07/14/2009

- This is very operatic, and I love it. It reminds me of being enchanted by the theatre and music and for this you deserve all the stars in the world; because it's so well written.

Simply beautiful.
The enjambament is brilliantly effective here, as well as the spaces between the lines (clever!)
After much deliberation (this was a bit trickier actually!!) I have come up with an analysis that it too long to fit on here and so will IM you about it biggrin
Great job as always Panic - Report As Spam
