-
she sleeps and i watch her,
her body moves gently with her breathing,
her chest goes up and down,
and her hand curls under her cheek,
she is always sleeping next to me,
waiting for me to come to her,
and i wait for sleep,
wait for something to happen,
i stare at the ceiling and i think,
about so many things unsaid,
too many wrong things done,
until the light starts to break through,
the dark curtains,
soon she will wake up,
and she will know i am still unmoved,
still un-sleeping,
i haven't come back to her,
and she will be again,
disappointed,
so i close my eyes,
tell myself,
sleep damm it,
sleep,
not enough pills,
maybe not enough wine,
racing against the light,
let it stay dark,
and she can be here sleeping,
just a bit longer.
- Title: racing the light
- Artist: angelxe1
- Description: this is about my insomnia, being sick, struggling with pain, and the medications i have to take. The poem is describing my girlfriend while she sleeps, and me wishing i could be a normal person, (not sick) and how sad she is every morning when she wakes up and finds I've been unable to sleep all night again.
