I walked onto the platform. There was sound equipment everywhere. Pianos, drums, microphones, guitars, and even a violin. My heart racing. My palms sweaty. Walking onto this platform, made me nervous, like I was about to trip over all of the equipment. I’ve been working really hard on this for the past three months. I’ve been working fifteen hours a week for ten weeks. Trying to memorize. Trying to get the words correct, but that was no use. Polish songs are harder to learn than English. That didn’t really help. I could always back out. But it’s too late now, the music’s already started. At the first note, my chest nearly exploded. Reveling my heart was pounding. I opened my mouth and…
I sang my heart out.
As I held my last long note, I looked into the joyous crowd. The next thing I knew everyone was clapping. All I heard was people clapping, people cheering, the band playing music. I looked towards the bride and groom; they were dancing. When I finished, they stopped and had cheerful looks on their faces. The groom had also responded to the performance by saying “You should keep going!” This will be unforgettable. I’m glad that on their happy day I gave them this gift. But mostly, I’m glad they loved it.
With this experience, I learned that you’ll never know until you try. I honestly did not think that I could ever have the courage to do what I did that night. After this, I gained more confidence and more courage. I can now do anything if I just put my mind to it. As taken from experience, a little motivation, persistence, hard work and determination can go a long way.
