I never really noticed him, but I did the first time he talked to me. I was on the bus, on my way to a very important date just like the white rabbit in Alice and Wonderland. I was going to meet my mother for the first time, and I was so nervous. I hated her for everything she did to me, but it was time to move on. Ryan was sitting on the seat across the aisle, and I didn't notice him until those words like silk caressed my ears. It was a cold winter day in November, but I was instantly warmed. He was so handsome, and it was love at first sight just like a fairy tale.
"Cold out today isn't it?" Ryan asked me.
"Very." I respond with a smile as I nervously yank out my ear buds.I didn't want to mess this up.
"What's your name? I've seen you around school but I don't know who you are." He asks.
"It's Justine. I am only at school 1 time a week so that's no surprise." I say with a smile.
We continue talking about random things on the bumpy bus ride, but when my stop comes, I almost want to skip my important date...But I can't. I tell him it was nice to meet him, and I want to talk with him some more, then leave.
The meeting went decently, no one had harsh words to say, and I am finally moved on from the horror my mother committed. I don't see Ryan much around school, but when I do its like he is the center of my attention, and my friends notice how much I stare and tell me not to bother. He's popular, I am not. Plus he's taken.
It goes on like this for several months until graduation when we stand in the the hall during rehearsal and he's the only one to comfort me and my broken heart because of my parents not coming. I loved him so much at the moment.
We sat outside the school and talked, apparently he loves that I am Buddhist and finds it fascinating that I refuse to remain angry with the people who have wronged me. At the actual graduation, I went before him, made my speech that the honors students had to do, and I saw that as he stood behind the curtain, he was so scared and he looked like he needed a hug. I ran off the stage, contrary to the rules, and hugged him. I saw the adoration in his eyes, and I knew Ryan was the one.
After graduation, we talked over Facebook and we finally decided that we wanted to be together. He's the perfect man, more of a gentleman than most, and we are now together and have had our first time together. I never thought that this little nerd would be so lucky to make it with such a popular person. He's perfect, and I wouldn't think twice about my choice to be with him. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't be something.
