Walking down these high school halls
Seeing only teenage dolls
Shells of who they want to be
Hiding from reality
The friends that I don’t know
Their true faces they don’t show
They want to be accepted
Welcomed in, not rejected
And so I was alone
In the 9th grade world of the unknown
And so was she
Sharing in my misery
But a friendship grew
And I wanted to tell her “thank you”
For being there
When no one else was…
For holding my head up
When all I could do was sob…
For telling me “It’ll be ok”…
Even when she hurt
She still took care of me.
Now walking down these once familiar halls
Seeing all these teenage dolls
Shells of who they want to be
Hiding from reality
My memories of high school
So many of them cruel
But I had my one helping hand
And now we lead the lives we planned.
