I don't really care about anyone but me. Stephanie is my name, and I rule. I'm 16 years old, and I'm the queen. There's no doubt about it. Everyone else gives into me, it's really nothing to talk about. But I will talk about. it. I'll talk about it because I can. I can do what I want. I have money, popularity, and rights. Everything just comes to me, really. It's easy. I can manipulate people to give me what I want, it's part of my daily routine. People tell me it's wrong. Maybe to them, but not to me.
But there are a few bugs in my life.
One of them being my dad's girlfriend, Clara. She's just like me, but stronger. She tries to take me down. Her castle may be bigger, but mine has the tricks.
To get what you want, you have to be manipulative. To be manipulative you have to have the tricks. To have the tricks you have to have an imagination. And an imagination is what she doesn't have. Thankfully, I do.
Another little pest in my life is my sister. It wouldn't seem like it, considering 3/4ths of the school doesn't know she exists, but it's true. My competing school queen, Kaitlynn Binders, uses her as a source to kick me off the school popularity pyramid. She'll go up to Alexis, and ask for secrets. Alexis is so desperate for popularity, she will tell her anything.
But apart from those little bumps in the road, the Ferrari I call my existence is roaring smoothly down the highway of life. Now shut up and enjoy my story!
“Stephanie dear, get me my rose petals and make the bed. I want your dad to think I put hard effort into his birthday surprise!” Said Clara coldly. That jerk was now making me do the dirty work for my dad's 'birthday surprise.'
“Anything for your lazy butt.”
“Now, now. Don't be rude. I am in charge, remember? I know your little mind takes a while to function things, but that is no excuse!”
“Say that to my-”
“Uh-uh-uh! Be nice!”
I rolled my eyes and trudged off to get her rose petals. I'm not her slave! She just doesn't get it! Maybe I could do something... Something that will completely devastate her... Well, I'll put that aside for now. It's time to serve the drag queen.
“Here are your frikkin' petals.”
“Thanks.” She said in a harsh tone. What does my dad see in her?
I plopped down on my king-size, 1,125$ bed in exhaustion. THIS is why I don't believe in God. Most of my family is Catholic. Not over reactive, completely devoted to God Catholics, but they still say grace before dinner and hang crosses around the house. That kind of stuff.
When Clara came, she begged and begged my dad to take the crosses down. She never let us say grace. She told us to turn around our religion. It was she who made me stop believing in God. God would never ruin my life like this. Not even if I was some type of terrorist.
Now I just roll with the punches like most people. I take the good things, accept the bad- well, try to accept the bad.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't just stop believing because of one bad thing. I always thought God did so much, he couldn't make everyone's life heaven on Earth! But when Clara came, God was becoming less and less of my daily life. I stopped saying prayers. I stopped putting the crosses back up when Clara took them down. It all became useless to me.
But right now I really don't give a crap. I'm just too frustrated. I wish I could walk right down to Clara and set her straight, but it's really not worth it. I just can't fight her right now. It's completely worthless.
One of those little useless tools we call tears rolls down my cheek. I haven't cried since my grandma passed away. Stay strong, Steph. It's just life. I shouldn't give what Clara and my dad think of me. They don't matter . Giving into them will only make me weaker. And being weaker, I can't overcome Clara.
I wipe my eyes and walk around my room with my head up. It's time for that plan. The plan to get Clara out of my hair for good.
“Let's see,” I say to myself. “What means a lot to Clara, besides my dad?” I looked around my room for ideas.
Hmm... I could use up all her bottles of perfume. Nah, she could always buy more. I could trash her 2,045$ Peacock Alley bed set. But she could put it back together in an instant! I could write on her walls. No, she could always repaint them.
I eyed my closet. Hey... There's an idea! I can go into her closet and trash that! I don't know how she could replace over 100,000$ of clothing in one day, yet alone one year! This is the perfect plan!
But first I need to get Clara downstairs. I looked at the clock. 2:55. My dad will be home any minute now! I just need to wait. And wait. And wait...
In what feels like an hour my dad walks through the door. “Daddy!” I exclaim as I run down the stairs. “Happy Birthday!”
Clara walks down the stairs slowly, trying not to trip on her Jimmy Choos. I purse my lips to keep from laughing. Fail. Epic fail. “Hello, Charles! Happy Birthday! I have planned a wonderful birthday surprise for you!”
“Hi, Stephanie! Hello, Clara! I can't wait to see the surprise!”
“I'm sure you can't. Let's leave Steph to herself for a moment. I believe we have some catching up to do!”
My dad smiles smoothly at Clara. Just gross. I proceed up the white marble staircase as they cuddle themselves on the couch. I make a gagging noise to show the repulsion.
But what he doesn't know is that I'm actually going to Clara's room. Mwahahahahahaha!
