CHAPTER 183 - CAPTURED
You finally counted down the last seconds you had with your lover. Now it's time to count the last seconds you have with your life.
As soon as Kai disappeared from my vision peripherals, I was convinced that my life was over. I sprawled myself across my seat and Kai's seat, curled up, and sobbed, wanting the world to swallow me up. It was the last contact I would ever have with Kai again; I could never physically touch him again. I could never speak to him, never touch him, never kiss him or make love to him ever again. We were unable to be parents together anymore.
There was a severe inferno ignited in my chest and sobbing only made it worsen. I moaned in pain and clamped my teeth onto my bottom lip to keep myself from crying any further. My limbs were incredibly sore from last night; my wrists and ribs were painted in faint blue bruises and it was especially sore in between my legs. Kai was hardly sane last night; he hurt me so much physically. The pain was well worth it to enjoy one more night with him. The contract meant nothing that night; we endured the physical and mental pain.
I'd have started up the car and taken off, but it was as though the contract were possessing me too; I couldn't seem to start the car. There was no chance for me surviving running from a Vampire. I didn't know how Kai expected me to make it, but I wouldn't disobey Kai. If he would tell me to run, I would, reluctantly, run. I rose halfway and propped myself on my sore arm, glancing out the back window. Minoru and Kaiba were both speaking with Kai, occasionally averting their eyes to the car. I could feel Minoru staring right through me...
Arisa, run, a voice pounded in my head. I pressed my palms against my temples and lowered my head; the voice sounded just like Kai's voice; was I hearing things?
"What?" I whispered, not knowing if I was going crazy or not.
Run, now, his voice ordered again, hissing; he was speaking to me through his head.
My common sense kicked in and I scrambled over to the passenger seat and quietly opened the door. I slid out and sat against the car, trying not to let the door shut yet. I took my time to lean my head back and sob quietly to myself; the memories from the past fifteen months were reiterating severely. My heart was pounding asperously as my mentality started to resurface.
Be safe, Kai, be safe, I pleaded to him in my head.
To my ignorant mistake at attempting to move away from the car, the car door shut on its own accord. I froze where I was, waiting for a Vampire to suddenly pounce on me. After a few seconds of nothing, I jumped onto my feet and rolled down the ditch next to the car. I continued to roll, wondering what would stop me, until I ran into a barbed wire fence. I groaned with the stabbing pain of the wire cutting through my skin but there were more important matters at hand.
I ignored the pain in my skin and climbed through the fence and into the field on the other side. I took off in a full sprint, heading towards the mountains nearly three miles away. Never glancing back, I was convinced I was freed. As I pleaded to Kai in my head to be safe, the grass continued to lash against my fresh cuts. After I ran for what felt like forty-five seconds, somebody tackled me from behind.
Once I was tackled, I fell into a small stream hidden behind the lengthened grass. The body halfway climbed off of me and pressed a knee against the middle of my back, popping my back a little. I groaned and started crying, knowing it was all over with; I was caught. But my will to fight wasn't diminished yet; I ripped off the bullet necklace that Akatsuki gave me and burrowed it into the Vampire's knee, hoping to faze him in some way. Unfortunately, I couldn't break the very surface of his skin. The Vampire gripped my bruised wrists and held them behind my back and stripped the necklace from my hand and tied my hands behind my back with a plastic tie. I cried harder as the pain of the mud seeping into my cuts and the realization of my doom day surfaced.
A pair of frozen lips pressed against my left ear and the voice was instantaneously recognizable, "Don't struggle, sweetheart; you'll break your arms." Minoru.
My heart stopped at the very sound of his sinister voice. He gripped my bicep and pulled me up onto my feet, nearly dislocating my left arm. As we headed back to the road, the only direction I looked was down; I didn't want to see the pain on Kai's face or the thirst in Minoru's eyes.
"It's always amusing to give food a head start," Minoru chuckled while dragging me up onto the road. "Similar to animals and their prey."
The way he said that statement made me want to die. I kept my head down and my knees shook severely; I had never been so scared in my whole life. Kai and I couldn't even look at each other; he was probably forbidden to look at me and I didn't want to see his complexion glazed over in pain.
"You should have granted her a longer head start," Kaiba suggested to Minoru, standing beside Kai.
I glanced up at Minoru through my bangs and he merely smirked at me; his sinister smirk said a thousand words, all words and intentions I couldn't make out. The hunger was gleaming in his eyes and I knew that in a matter of days or hours, his thirst would be quenched with my blood. He gripped my chin lightly and held my head up to examine me a little more, probably eying the cuts on my face. My anger kicked in and I shot a huge wad of spit onto his face. He released my face and wiped the spit off of his cheek and stared at me with a blank expression. Before I could process it, his right hand abruptly met my left cheek. Once the pain reached me, I shouted in pain and collapsed onto my knees on the ground. I saw Kai take a step forward and growl loudly but it was probably all he could do at that point.
"Go ahead and escort Uketomeru away; I'll take the b***h." Minoru hissed, pulling me back up on my feet.
I struggled to escape Minoru's grasp while sobbing, "Kai, don't leave me!" I pleaded. "Kai!"
"You had your goodbyes; now shut up." Minoru hissed at me, dragging me towards the passenger side of his car.
As I was choking on my crying, I was forced into the passenger seat, and as soon as the door was shut, I started to furiously kick the window of the car. It was too unfortunate I was so weak; I couldn't even crack the glass. My limbs were still incredibly sore and weren't getting any better from the labor I was forcing them into. I wanted to escape; I wanted to save my babies. Kai and Kaiba climbed into Kai's car and he never looked back at me; he was forbidden to. I would never see him again...
Minoru was apparently fed up with my struggling and he pulled me over by my hair, ripping out several strands, "Knock it off," he sneered. "I'd kill you right here and now if I could."
I sobbed, "Let me go. Let me go back to Kai." My voice cracked when I said Kai's name.
I continued to struggle, oblivious to the fact that I was with a bloodthirsty Vampire; of course he wouldn't give me any chance to escape. He covered my mouth with his hand and held my head against his left shoulder. He reached into the glove compartment for what looked like a syringe. I started panicking internally at the size of the needle. He removed the casing from the needle and checked the liquid in the syringe. Was it poison?
"It's not poison, you rat," he hissed at me. "It's anesthetic."
He held the syringe in his mouth again and brushed my hair off of my neck. He took his time to kiss and lick my neck, wanting me to die ever further. He was such a disgusting creature; he made me want to vomit.
"I'm not going to give up the chance of immortality so easily," he mumbled to me angrily. "I refuse to wait two hundred to three hundred years."
The needle made me want to faint; it was damn near two or three inches long. Minoru inched the needle closer and closer to my neck. I struggled to escape but it was to no avail. As soon as I felt the needle perforate the surface of my skin, I ceased my struggling. In a flash, the needle was all the way into my skin and I shouted into Minrou's hand in pain.
I could feel the cool liquid plunge into my circulatory system and circulate throughout my veins. When the needle was pulled out of my skin, I groaned and I could feel some of my blood running out of the wound. I peeked out the windshield again and sobbed; Kai was gone. I would never see him again. He was safe now.
Minoru tossed the syringe back into the compartment as I started falling numb. Minoru pushed me back into the passenger seat and reclined the seat back and buckled me in. I couldn't move anymore and I was numbing all over; I was starting to drool from the lack of feeling. My vision was blurring and my consciousness was fading as Minoru started the car and drove off in the opposite direction Kai took off to.
~*~*~*~*~*~
I felt light, almost as though I was gliding. There were cold, sturdy arms supporting me and carrying me at a steady pace. Without opening my eyes, I started my assumptions; was Kai carrying me to breakfast? Maybe we were finally married and on our honeymoon and he was carrying me to bed?
I shivered at the cold that bit my skin; the arms weren't the only things that were cold. The air was chilly wherever we were. There was a damp, musty smell as well, much like an old basement. Kai and I couldn't be at home; where were we?
It was when I finally opened my eyes that I wanted to scream and run away; I was in some kind of prison; an unfamiliar environment. I was barely able to glance up and I saw Minoru's face; his mouth bent down in a frown as he continued to look ahead. I blinked several times and breathed heavily through the cloth tied over my mouth. My body was still numb from the anesthetic; I could barely move anything.
I was carried into what looked like an old medieval prison cell and I was seated on the ground against the wall. Minoru kneeled in front of me and removed the cloth from my mouth but kept the plastic tie around my wrists.
"What place is this?" I slurred, barely able to keep my head up. "Where's Kai?"
"It's an abandoned prison," Minoru cut the plastic tie from my wrists with his nails. "And Uketomeru is gone."
"Gone...?" I mumbled, unable to comprehend yet.
"Back home. He's not here."
"What...?" I was starting to catch on.
Minoru leaned in close to me and pressed his thumb against my lips, "Uketomeru returned home, sweetheart," he smirked. "We have you all to ourselves."
That was when my eyes snapped open and I finally started to freak out. I started to kick my feet at Minoru and sob; Kai really was gone. Everybody was gone; I was going to die without having a proper goodbye to the rest of the family. But I was confused; wasn't the original contract plan to keep Kai where I was so he could watch me die? In all of the depression, I found a sense of relief; Kai was safe at home. He wouldn't have to watch me die anymore; he could return safely back home--an empty home. I would never see him again; I would never be able to kiss him or make love to him again.
A smirk crept up Minoru's face again and he leaned in a little closer, "So you had a special night together, huh?"
"Go away," I cried.
Minoru sat closer to me and gripped onto my chin and forced me to look up at him, "Last time we discussed this was over the phone. I feel honored to be talking about it in person."
"I refuse to," I hissed at him.
"Come on, show me," he smirked and pressed his forehead against mine. "Show me what Uketomeru does to you."
"No!" I blustered and headbutted his face. Unfortunately, it hardly fazed him but I could have sworn I nearly cracked my head open.
Minoru sighed irritably before running his right hand across my left cheek once more. I winced in pain and fell onto the stone, damp ground. My cheek was stinging intensely until it fell numb. My eyes closed and I cried silently, wishing Minoru would finally leave. Instead, he pressed his face against my bare neck and inhaled deeply. I tried to curl up to make him go away but it was futile.
"You'll show me someday," he chuckled in amusement. He pulled back from my neck and rubbed his index finger against my cheek. "Or I could show you."
"Get the hell away from me!" I shouted at him, scratching my throat a little. "Go away!"
He chucked once more and stood up, brushing his hands and pants off. Without another word, he left the prison cell and closed the large prison cage door behind him and locked it securely. My heart started swelling and churning and I started to sob.
"Kai, help me," I cried and closed my eyes. I wanted badly to rub my belly to assure the babies but my hands were still bound. My stomach was killing me; all of the sudden stress was getting to me and my babies.
I wanted to die; I wanted to die so much at that moment. I was never going to see Kai or my extended family again. But I couldn't do that; I couldn't wish for death. I could never do such a thing to my unborn children. I was a horrible mother already.
