The year is 2021. Apparently, civilization was long since its collapse due to the ongoing war that the world itself has ever seen. Now, the dark world that I'm in is now under control of two super-powered men who formed their own brother-hooded alliance for themselves. And to think many years ago that they were crazy---there were not, however. Even with the success of theirs going THIS far, they have forgotten one thing.
That's right... me.
Seventeen years have passed since I've last seen them from my childhood and now I'll be ready to confront them once again, for the world itself should have one last chance of hope for freedom. Their stronghold is not that far ahead as I find myself running straight to the place to put an end to this hellish reality once and for all. After all, I knew I was the last person alive just like always.
Twenty-eight years in our lives: Me, Luis, and Sol. And to think Sol was that clever to acquire all the technologies needed to fund himself of his "greatest empire" in this present time, with Luis by his side. So there I was, climbing all the way to the top with all my might, step after step, floor after floor, until finally... I've found the two of them in their lab. They appear to be discussing something about regaining their armies and finally taking control of the whole world once again since their empire is now scattered in all directions. I guess this is where the confrontation takes place.
"I have finally found you two, mortal fiends!" I called out to Sol and Luis.
"We meet again, Dave," Sol replied back eagerly. "You've came here just in time to see us rebuild our world empire."
"I don't think so. I came here to put an end to this hellish reality caused by the two of you---and it will be the last time you will ever see your precious empire!"
"You think it's over, huh?" Luis boasted. "Think again! We're just getting started!"
"You two better surrender immediately!" I ordered. "Any resistance done by either of you will be harshly dealt with using EXTREME measures of force!"
"You don't even have anyone to support you!" Sol coaxed. "Besides, we can deal with you two-on-one."
"I don't need any help. The help I have is my own strength." Those words echoed out and I felt myself having bitter rage.
"Well," Luis replied in turn, "in that case, we'll see you dead right now!"
"Bring it!" I commanded.
And everything happened.
Engaging the two in hand-to-hand combat was not so much of a big deal for me. Luis attacked first, trying to throw a sequence of kicking combos to almost no avail. I slightly cracked his leg and made him hastily retreat for a while. Then Sol came up and tried to throw some punches at me, but like his companion, he was no match for my skilled hand-to-hand knowledge---I do recognize the fact that he and Luis took martial arts sometime earlier in their lives based on how they were trying to fight me. Nonetheless, Sol goes down in the fight and Luis gets back up.
Luis did charge at me, but I was able to stop him in his tracks with a good snap kick to his face. After a series of more flying fists dealt, I was able to finish him off by flipping him over and holding him down, pounding the life out of him before proceeding to give him a nice, body slam. He finally had a knockout, but I wasn't done yet.
Sol is back up to his feet, only this time he pulls out a pulse blade. My only weapon was a long combat knife that I've been keeping for a long time while I was hunting out in the forests alone. We clashed once again. Sol may have missed a few attempts of trying to cut me down, but I had an upper hand and I slashed him right in the face before proceeding to kick him in the solar plexus and finally disarming him of his weapon. Now, I had a greater advantage.
I also noticed Luis staggering to his feet and Sol pulling out his 9mm Semi-Automatic handgun, sharply aiming it at me. "You think you've won, huh?" Sol roared. "Think again, you may try to kill us, but you're no match for the two of us. Why don't you drop your weapons and surrender to us?" And I sharply responded, "Not happening. Your empire ends NOW!"
All of a sudden, the three of us heard a loud, thunderous noise---a noise that sounded like a giant's pair of feet as well as a noise that also sounded like a lion's roar, or maybe rolling thunder in the sky. The sounds were half-faint at first, but it grew louder as this mysterious being approached.
"No!" Sol exclaimed. "It can't be!"
"He's returned!" Luis said, angrily astonished.
For a moment, I had no idea what they were talking about until the dark figure finally approached in light. The figure was actually a dark creature with massive muscles and wings and sharp horns of a demon. Actually, this creature was no ordinary strong one; I actually recognize the face of this monster.
"What the hell?" I said. "It's Mr. Greer!"
"He used to be," Sol began to explain. "He was killed nearly six years ago. We heard that Martinez impaled him with a long blade and fled for his life, so we took his lifeless body and once experimented with it to turn him into our greatest minion."
"He's not our minion anymore," Luis added. "The whole experiment has gone wrong and has driven him mad. Now, he has forces of his own and tried to kill us a year later. We thought we killed him long ago, but seeing that he's still alive now, we might as well try to regain our prize if we manage to annihilate him once again."
"I'm also looking for Martinez," I demanded.
"We know nothing about where he went. We haven't seen him in years!" Sol's words almost echoed like an angry lunatic.
"I might as well deal with both of you right after I deal with this monstrosity!" I yelled.
The huge monster, who was once Mr. Greer, my teacher in my earlier school days, proceeded to attack. Sol shot right at him with his handgun only to realize that he was unaffected. Even Luis' attacks were useless as he was grabbed, but Sol saved his biscuits by blinding him with a tear gas grenade. Though I also managed to fend the monster off for a split second, Sol and Luis fled for their lives. Luckily, I found a nearby Colt Python Revolver and mortally shot down Luis, stopping him in his tracks.
Luis was paralyzed, and Sol stopped to try and help him up. "Go on without me," he instructed to Sol. "I'd rather be dead trying to kill those two. I'll give you some time, just go!" And with that, Sol stepped back while looking at me and Mr. Greer since we were approaching closer. Sol then ran for his life.
"We're not done yet!" I echoed. And with that, Luis got up and pulled out his Uzi Submachine Gun. Shots were fired, but surprisingly, Greer stepped in at the last moment and attacked Luis, even though the gunfire merely took effect on him when he was right in between our shooting range. Luis, badly injured, tried to fight back but was overwhelming. On the other hand, I reloaded and tried to get the monster's attention. I was able to, but with limited success. He simply threw Luis down and charged after me. By the time he grabbed me, I noticed Luis charging at him with a tazer and jammed it right into Greer, severely stunning him. At least I was OK, but not for long when Luis then tried to attack me. Though he had the upper hand on me THIS TIME, he didn't expect the biggest surprise. And THAT surprise was when Greer, who recovered quickly, ambushed him. He impaled Luis from the back and I noticed the sword coming out of Luis' stomach. At least that saved MY biscuits.
Greer then grabbed Luis and tossed him in a high voltage operating machine. I noticed tens of thousands of electric volts shocking the hell out of Luis... and within seconds, he was finally dead. I guess it's all up to me to stop both Greer and Fagan once and for all.
There was a knife in an arsenal. Because there was some kind of ruby medallion strapped to Greer's chest, I was thinking that it's probably his weak spot. So I tossed the knife and it was a direct hit. He was badly paralyzed. I had to proceed to the stairway to find Sol.
Halfway there, I suppose, but no sign of Sol. I looked around and said to myself, "If only Anthony Martinez was here with me since I've been looking for him for countless generations. Where could he possibly disappeared off to?"
Then, a loud roar occurred. I turned around and there was the monstrous, deformed Mr. Greer catching up to me now that he pulls the knife out of his chest, though he was still mortally wounded. He didn't have enough since I felt like he could not retain his own human knowledge despite being killed years ago.
Once again, I had to face him in combat. He charged at me with all his might, but because of his massive size and strength, I was able to move out of the way in time since he turns to various directions a little too slow, meaning I have an advantage of my own. I pulled out the colt python and shot him numerous times to no avail, but he approached me and grabbed me and lifted me in the air. For a second, I thought he would choke me to death, but he tossed me to the other side of the floor, nearly injuring me.
That's when it finally hit me.
I saw a sharp pole nearby and I knew time was running out for me. If I didn't react too soon, Greer would totally kill me. So I did what I had to do. I grabbed the sharp pole and threw it right where the ruby medallion was, the one strapped to his chest. The pole greatly pierced through his torso and he roared in mad pain. That wasn't enough to kill him. Using all my strength, I was able to push him into the high voltage area in the floor, where he greatly damaged the machines. In doing so, he was electrocuted, nearly 200,000 watts of electricity going through his body. The electrocution lasted seconds and before I knew it, he was finally dead. The huge deformed monster who was once a former tyrannical teacher---he was finally dead.
Sol is my only enemy left. I headed to the very top. The top I had reached was simply a rooftop where I had a view of the ruined towns. And that's where I met up with Sol himself. He did notice my presence.
"I'm impressed that you've made it this far," he growled. "However, this is just the beginning. I know for a fact that when I finally kill you, I will rebuild my whole empire so that my name will have a new world order. You may have killed my sidekick as well as the test subject that I once had years ago, but I will guarantee you that you won't find me an easy opponent in battle."
"We'll see about that," I answered.
And with that, our final battle has just begun. Sol charged at me with his broadswords, but after successfully evading many of his attempts to hack and slash me, he dropped his swords and said, "Alright, let's just deal with this hand-to-hand, what do you say?" And with that, he began a series of punches and kicks in which I was able to block off and parry. My idea was to try and wear him out as hard as I can and when he is exhausted, I will then turn the tables on him. Patiently, I waited for the moment to strike while Sol, who is starting to grow weary, continued at me with some fighting moves that I was able to block or evade.
Then, he pulls off his mistake.
He tried to throw another punch at me, but I was able to grab him just in time. I cracked his arm pretty damn good and kicked him back a couple of times to try and knock him off the rooftop. That failed to stop him since he was pushing me back. Despite the fractured arm, he kicked me a few more times before I finally gained the advantage by successfully blocking his kick with a reversal and then finally flipping him over. He was up to his feet and I overwhelmed him. He almost fell off the rooftop since he was hanging on to the ledge with his remaining hand and I looked down. Luckily, he had no weapons to support him.
Looking up at me, he said, "I guess this is the end." And I replied, "It sure is. You were never meant to rule this world, not even Luis. And you were never meant to reanimate Mr. Greer to make him your slave only to later realize that the experiments have gone wrong." Sol paused for a few moments, hanging on for his life. He then spoke again, "Sounds like you were the triumphant one after all, even when we were kids in elementary school."
I said nothing. Is it me... or is he finally complimenting me for the first time in my life?
"May this world rebuild itself even if I were to fall," Sol added.
I looked down on Sol. "There is no hope left," I said. "I came here to put an end to your tyranny. Civilization has collapsed all because of you and Luis. Now, I have no idea if either of us can start over."
"Actually," Sol began, "you will be starting over, not me. My dreams of ruling the world with Luis has now been crushed. Even I had no clue with my earlier life. I don't know much about my dad, but he was a greaser in his high school years. And I felt like this was necessary for me all this time."
I said nothing---nothing at all. We looked at each other while Sol himself was holding on to dear life---actually it wasn't for long. I finally heard Sol's last words, which were, "Farewell, Dave. May you one day see me in a new life of Hell when the end of this apocalyptic age draws near." And with that, he ultimately lets go of the rooftop ledge and fell all the way down to his plunging death. I said nothing, I did nothing. All there was around me---silence.
Finally, I decided to depart. It was over---all over. I finally decided to head down the stairway, hopefully to begin a "normal" life in this apocalyptic world since it's still 2021. The brotherhood of Luis and Sol has finally came to an end. Sounds like all has been settled.
On the way down, I noticed that someone was waiting for me; it was none other than Anthony Martinez. I ran up to meet him and he was happy to meet up with me once again after seventeen long, dark years. It appears as if he was trying to look for me this whole time.
"So where were you?" I questioned him.
"I was looking for you," he responded. "I was trying to look for any of our surviving classmates from long ago. I was trying to gather up any civilians to help them evacuate, but I failed. So I came here to also try and stop Luis and Sol."
"No need to worry about that, anymore. They're both dead."
Anthony looked at me. "Are you serious?" he questioned. I nodded and he said, "Wow... you would have been killed, but at least I get to see you alive."
"I'm glad you're alive, also," I said.
We looked at each other for a few moments and then looked around. Finally, Anthony asked, "So what are you going to do now since it's finally over?" And then I answered, "I have no clue. I guess the best thing to do is to look for any survivors around here and try to find a new place for all of us, a new place where we'll be starting over with life. It'll probably take thousands---maybe even tens of thousands---to repopulate this entire world, but it's apparently worth it."
Anthony looked at me. "That sounds like a great idea," he said. "There isn't much around here. If anyone out there is still alive, we'll do what it takes to rebuild lives."
I nodded. "And if anyone goes down this wrong path again, I will be sure to come back and fix things like I did earlier."
With that, the two of us began to head outside. Everything was settled now despite the ruins and the apocalypse caused by Sol and Luis much earlier. It was over... all over. And I started to wonder how can the two of us rebuild our lives despite the damage done all around us---we were never responsible, anyway. But enough said, I'm glad it's over---all over.
