I've learned to live with her. When I say her I mean my sister. My dead sister. She's been with me for a while but I have never noticed it until I turned 14. But then again I never knew I had a sister either. Maybe that's why I never paid attention to her. It happened like this....
It was about 3 months ago. At 8:00 at night. I had just finished my pre-algebra homework and was starting to fall asleep my head on my brown oakwood desk. Then I heard a knock. I looked up searching for where it had came from, but nobody was here. My parents were out tonight eating dinner at one of the most hig-priced restaraunts. They liked to pretend they could afford stuff like that. So I shrugged and closed my math book.I stood up and walked over to my bed grabbing my stuffed elephant Yum-yums. I know I am too old for Yum-yums, but I refuse to give him away. I lay on my back on the bed and I closed my eyes. Then I heard that knock again. But this time it was much louder. I slowly opened my eyes and there she was just standing there, looking at me. I screamed. I screamed until my throat began to hurt. The girl that stood in front of me was not transparent like in the movies. And she had no eerie light around her. She was solid like you and I. So I wondered who she was. I studied her features. Light brown eyes, long black hair pushed behind her ear. Her skin was a caramel color. And she was shockingly beautiful. "Who...are..you?" I stammered my teeth chattering. It seemed to get a little colder. She did not respond she just stood there staring at me. I thought maybe she was studying me as I was studying her. After a few minutes she laughed. She laughed like someone told her a hilarious joke and disappeard.Right into thin air. As i Stared at where she was just standing I shook my head and said, "I'm going totally crazy!" I laid back down and fell asleep.
She showed up again the next day. And this time she spoke. But she only spoke one word. She arrived at 8:00 the same as the other night and stood over me while I was doing my homework. When I told around she smiled and said, "Mayonaise.". Before I could say what the hell she vanished. These one word visits became a habit. She would say the weirdest things like "pickled juice" or "Flapjack" I began to think that maybe I am seeing a ghost. And that this ghost needs psychiatric help. It wasn't until yesterday that she started to make sense.
