Shrugging oh her jacket, she stepped outside. The thick soles of her winter boots almost skidded across the wet grass. Catching her balance and readjusting the beret on top of her jet black ringlets. She looked around. Nobody had seen. A sigh of relief escaped her perfectly painted pink lips. Pulling her coat closer round herself, she walked on.
The smell of smoke lingered in the cold air from the previous night, and an exhausted rocket lay on the ground. She neatly side-stepped it, smiling to herself. A few youths across the road jeered and catcalled at her make-up caked face. She shook her head, laughing at them, and carried on.
When she turned the corner into the park, it was empty. Perfect. She sat on a bench to wait. The ashes of the bonfire smouldered in the corner. Many a happy memory had been created round those embers. It was because of that she was here now, in the weak November sunshine. She looked to the ground. A single rose petal was nestled amongst the grass, slightly withered. It looked out of place. She picked it up, and twined it round her long pale fingers, stroking the velvety surface. Suddenly, she became aware she was not alone.
She looked up. He was there, right on time. They smiled at each other, and it seemed that the only sun in the sky was shining on them...
