When I was little, my parents always told me to never hold a grudge against another person. As easy as it sounded, I never learned that lesson. When the boys from school years ago picked on me, I would always find a way to get back at them. Guess I just never stopped to think about it since I was too angry at the time. I could remember when a kid kicked sand in my face. He ended up going to the nurse with a broken arm after I pushed him off the top of the slide. My parents were furious after a call from the principal telling them what I did.
My father was a big business man for a huge company called Nosta. He was one of the top people within the corporation. He didn't have much time to spend with me, but whenever he did have the time, it seemed like it was only to lecture me on what I did wrong. He was hardly home and went on many business trips, but every weekend he would spend all his time with me and mom going to movies or taking a trip to our family cabin whenever he had a free weekend. Every weekend was something different. My mother was a baker in the neighborhood bakery. She even spent her spare time at home baking. I could remember one year where she made me a huge cake for my birthday with my face on it in frosting for all my school. Everything she made was delicious though. She was the one who mostly yelled at me when I got in trouble since my dad was too busy most of the time. She always felt so bad after yelling at me though. I could remember her coming into my room right after she yelled at me one time crying. She always apoligized afterwards and said 'We only do this because we love you Melanie'.
They would try and try again to teach me what I did was wrong, but I felt like the other kids deserved it. Now there's only one person who deserves revenge. My parents killers....
One day during lunch, I was called up to the office. I thought it was for spilling one kids milk all over him for the 3rd day in a row, but it wasn't. I was told that my parents were killed. At first I thought that the principal was just trying to get back at me in an attempt to teach me a lesson. But when he turned the television on in his office, there was my house on the news with cops and an ambulance. Two gurnies were being pulled out of the house with blankets stained in blood covering the bodies. I fainted at the sight and woke up in my grandparents house a few hours later.
Ever since that moment, I stopped holding grudges on everyone else. They stopped picking on me anyways when they heard about what happened to my parents. For twelve years now, I've had only one grudge, the grudge against the killer. I told myself I would find him no matter what it would take, and I won't give up...
