Mack stared through the glass doors at the panting little fur ball on the other side. She cringed as a small stream of saliva left its furry mouth. Her entire family has always been animal lovers except for her. She couldn’t see how any drooling fur ball that covers her hand in slop can be “cute.” Right now my mom is at work at the flower shop and my sister is at a friend’s house. My brother won’t be here until tomorrow. Maybe I should throw the puppy out of the house and tell my family that the little fur ball ran away? The idea was tempting. It was absolutely brilliant! She smirked. It was a plan of dreams…
By now the annoying pup was barking and yelping and making all sorts of noise behind the door. Finally, tired of all this racket, she stormed to and opened the door and froze…
The smell of burnt wood and fabric rammed into Mack like a gigantic truck running at about 300 miles per hour. For the first time, she noticed the room was getting smokier by the moment. Her little Daschund puppy was trying to warn her! She quickly grabbed the loyal little bundle of fur and dashed through the window, breaking the glass.
Outside the now partly collapsed remains of her house, she waited with her little hero in her arms as the fire department and police swarmed into the area. A neighbor had accidentally left the stove on and dozed off. And now she paid the price. I could have gone with her to the other world, but I didn’t. smile
