• Kai was running through the forest as fast a her legs would carry her the sweat stinging her tear stained eyes. She had to get away no matter what she had to put distance between her and that thing. She was going down a dirt road surrrounded by dark trees. she heard a hungry holw behind her she ran faster her feet were on fire. She tripped her face burying into the ground. She waited for the beast to consume her. Nothing happed she pushed herself up and looked behind her. Stifling a scream as seh saw the beast cuaght by two dark branches as if they had come alive.
    "Are you alright dear?" the old voice spooked Kai. She looked around but all that stood near her was a old looking tree that had a couple knots infact some of the knots looked like eyes a nose and...a mouth! Kai stood up alarmed."Don't be afraid little one" The tree replied. Its small knot mouth quking. Kai took a step bkac,
    "Who are you?' Kai asked she couldn't belive she was talking to a tree.
    "Gran Pine..." the tree answerd with dignity. iit seemd to observe Kai very steadily.
    "Do you know what that is?' Kai asked pointing at the beast who was still struggleing to get free.
    "My people refer to it as the Klaprey, the beast that preyds on humans and animals alike." Gran Pine answerd sadly.
    "Your people?" Kai asked sitting crossed legged infront of the tree. Then suddenly other trees shifted and thier faces became evident."oh...bu why don't you kill the Klaprey?" Kai asked staring at all the trees, they all seemd to shutter as if a great wind had knocked into them.
    "We do not kill.." Came a voice from a tree not far from Gran Pine. "I am Lee Spruce i am the leader of this forest."
    "So what will you do now?" Kai aksed staring at the beast who had all but given up its frenzy struggle for freedom.
    "We still don't know." Lee Spruce answerd. The branches holding the Klayprey released it. It fell to the ground exhausted standing up on all fours it growled at kai who was surround by branches now. It was alomst like a panther wth a wolf tail and ears its fangs seemed to drip black blood its a tongue deep red. It paced around its percing green eyes trying to find an opening. Thenn howled and sprinted off into the dark. Kai shiverd as the branches retracted from her.
    "Its...a werewolf?" Kai asked staring after the Klaprey. the trees seems to get a inqisitive look. Kai sighed she would have to explain." A werewolf is a human that is bit by some posessed wolf. Then at night when the moon or the full moon comes out they turn into this wolfman like beast that we just saw." The tree seemed to nod as thier leaves shook.
    "Is there a cure for this?" Gran Pine asked then. Kai shook her head sadly. "This is terrible that beast has been killing many deer and sucking them clean..its so disturbing."
    "Wait..did you say sucking them clean?" Kai asked. Gran Pine nodded. Kia shuttered. Kai couldn't understand how could a werewolf be a vampire too? She wished that she could see it closer now to confirm her curisity but didn't show her consiren.
    "Well now that the Klayprey is gone you can go home." Gran Pine said slowly. Kai shuttered at the dark she wasn't going anywhere."Or maybe you can sleep in my branches till morning. Dohra can take you home tomorrow. Kai looked up." Hes a young boy who wandered into the woods one day and shooed a beaver away from my trunk. Gran Pine seemd to glow like she was smiling. Then suddenly Kai was picked up by the back of the collar and set in a bow of trees. She found it was quite comfertable. She quickly fell asleep without protest. She only woke up once during the night by a long agonizing howl. Then she drifted off again.
    The next morning Kai found a boy not much older than her walking up the path slwoly she climbed down Gran Pines trunk. The boy looked suprised and quickly came up to her. He was slightly pale with beatiful amber eyes his hair was long black and messy. He wore a simple green shirt and jeans. He looked at Kai full of curiosity.
    "Hi, i am Kai Gran Pine saved me form the Klaprey." Kai greeted him offering her hand. He took it shaking it gingerly he was cold to the touch and it startled Kai.
    "Dohra..." He replied his voice flowed over his lips like he was speacking a very important speech. Gran Pine suddenly woke up shaking her leaves and trunk all over.
    "ahhhh my boy your late!" Gran Pine grumbled her wooden eyes shifing between the boy and Kai.
