- I was ten when I saw her again. That time I got up the nerve to ask who she was. She just looked at me for a moment. I noticed in that short time that she had changed as much as I. Her hair was cut short, and had a few more golden highlights in it. She had grown, and her lips were a bit fuller. I wanted to look in a mirror to make sure I was right, about the fact that me and this person or thing were identical. The only difference was that I had eyes and she didn’t. She finally said one word in answer to my question. You. The scariest thing I had ever heard and it was only a three letter word. She disappeared right after that. I sat on my bed many a nights after that to ponder her answer. Me. In white that’s insane enough. Me. Without eyeballs just spun my mind. I dreamt of her less and yet more. The dreams didn’t come everyday only once a week or so. They weren’t all about her. There were other people. It became like a whole other world. A world that I didn’t belong in and yet visited once a week when I closed my eyes. They lived like we did sort of. My favorite spot to go to while I was there was this river. It was gray and black colored mud lined its banks. I would sit near it in the middle of a meadow that was on it’s right side. The meadow never got sun and the long knee high grass was a green gray color. But I loved being there in the peace and quiet. On the other side of the river was where all the people lived. It was always noisy and crowded on that side. I had my spot in the middle where I would sit and when I’d get up the grass that had been under me would be a bright green. I would talk to my friends for hours. My friends and I (from that place not in real life) all lived in this kind of apartment building. The walls and floor and ceilings were white and they never got stained. The doors were shades of gray, black, and red. Every door led to another room. Each room belonged to one of my friends. My room or the other me’s room was the only one with two doors. One that went in and out of her room and another that went in and out of the worlds. Her and I were the only ones that used it. It was strange because the worlds weren’t supposed to mix at all and yet no one noticed when two young girls that were the same person started to interact. In the real world our real world I never said anything about my adventures because I knew people would think I was crazy. In the other world no one really minded that there was someone among them that was different. Or to us someone that was normal. Roxy’s mouth was stapled shut and so were her nostrils. Erica got crushed by an elevator and was permanently squashed . Steve was castrated. Mandy’s arms were gone and there was no skin at the end of the nubs. Stefanie was decapitated. Kriss (better known as her and or me) had no eyeballs. Tristan was choked to death by his own mother and had permanent rope marks around his neck. It goes on and on. Somehow I had gotten used to these horrifying sights as if they were everyday things. I think that’s pretty scary getting used to dead people. But life is funny that way I guess. Yet on earth I stilled lived as a normal person and no one had any idea of what when on weekly. Yeah maybe I was certifiably insane but I knew it was real and even if someone had shown me proof of how crazy it was I would of just shook my head and said, “just cause you can’t see it.”
